The TIE Defenders in EU books are weaker still. They only have an X-wing's shields.

I prefered them in TIE, the way they were. I don't consider using them cheating, the Empire had the technology.

I'll post some technical stuff tomorrow, I've g2g now.

    BTW, I have AlliED.

Samuel, that link lead to a member signup and it requires your username and password to get to the images. You will have to do a direct link to the images.

In your Imagestation page go into the My Inbox that shows all the pics, click on the thumbnail to bring the image into its own window. Then when its loaded view the page source info. Scroll down to the line that says " var image_url = " and copy the entire image link from the http to the .jpg extension, then in the message boards here paste the image link and put the [image=(image link here)] tag to get the pics to view in the boards.

Those are some pretty good reference pics. I think its safe to say the two-squadron number for the Nebulon-B is a bit dubious after all. For TIEs it would possibly work, especially if there were more space devoted to the fighter storage than just the hangar bay itself. But for Alliance Fighters they would be lucky to fit a squadron.

Also remember that in the original X-wing game some of the transition scenes show a Lambda shuttle flying off to the Training Grounds or Combat Area, then landing in an Escort Frigate. It would seem that even with the wings retracted the upper wing would be too tall and the shuttle couldn't possibly fit in that hangar.

I suppose there could be Frigates with a larger hangar bay, but there doesn't seem to be any models from official or game sources that support this.

Do you guys remember the opening sence to Dark Forces ? they showed a Nebulon-B with a hanger that went completely through the hull instead of being open on one side. I've wondered about that one for awhile. And your right about the shuttle. There is a mission in X-Wing Alliance where you meet up with an Imperial defector and he flys a shuttle back to an awaiting Neb-b and the top wing "slices" through the upper hanger/hull.

Hiya Valiento, thats been many months ago. Probably back in July. Up till then I had thought the TIE Defender was the same in the EU as it was in the games.

Hey I had forgotten about that. In Starfighters of Adumar, Wedge says that the T/D has shields equal to an X-Wing.

Heres a question, what version of X-Wing are they useing in Starfighters of Adumar and what is the shield strength of them ?

How did you contact me by the way? (It wasn't by PM, I checked.) Who did you go by when you talked to me?

Oh it was just on one of these various polls threads about starfighters. Never did PM you, done all the talking in the thread.

    edit

Thats weird, went through all my past posts and its no where to be found. I remember it quite well. I went by "Samuel" back then too. It was one of the first threads I ever posted on here.

maybe I imagined that whole thread I dunno.

    I'm confused now, very confused.

With my infallible memory (ahem) I can tell you that I remember it. Well... Not in detail, but I know there was a thread about fighters where I'm sure you were, Samuel, and I'm quite sure I rememeber Val being there too.

Ok, I was just posting in someone else's thread, here's why I didn't remember you as the poster(I've posted in alot of threads, as you may know, :D).

As for different types of defenders, I think there is only one type written about in the EU. But the ones in the books seemed to me to be a bit weaker, somehow. But I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it was they didn't seem to have the same loadout of countermeasure packages(tractor beams, etc)?

I may have a solution to the problematic lack of interior volume in the Nebulon-B. If we just apply the 37th Law of Anime, then it makes perfect sense.

    37.Law of Extradimensional Capacitance
All anime females have an extradimensional storage space of variable volume somewhere on their person from which they can instantly retrieve any object at a moment's notice.
    First Corollary (The Hammer Rule)
The most common item stored is a heavy mallet, which can be used with unerring accuracy on any male who deserves it. Other common items include costumes/uniforms, power suits/armor, and large bazookas.

Using this rule then the Nebulon-B not only could hold two starfighter squadrons, but also a large mallet as well, for using on those capital ships that deserve it. :p
