First look at the Tim Burton film cast for DARK SHADOWS.

    Dark Shadows cast

Comments? Always nice to see Michelle Pfeiffer.

And if anyone has any comment on the Burton interview from the post above, I'd like to hear them.

Interesting. Very Addams Family, but without the wackiness.

Good analogy, Chancellor. I think it's interesting they released a photo in daytime, and not night.

In the early 1990s, Tim Burton hosted a TNT telecast of the Vincent Price horror film, House of Wax.

Since TCM is airing the film now, let's see how Tim does in the Robert Osborne role of host.

By the way, the film was released in 3 D.

I was surprised how good it was for what it is. I'm sure they'll re-run it, you know TCM.

When I found the clip of Burton hosting House of Wax, I also found a cool clip of him and Michael Keaton
being interviewed right after Batman came out in 1989.

Dark Shadows is now completed and being readied for release.

So Burton is developing another project. Sounds perfect for him.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Sounds like Big Fish for kids, with the Addams Family thrown in!

    Peculiar children? [face_thinking]

I've reserved the book at my local library, and will take a look at it.

Quite frankly, I thought the book was awful. The concept's fantastic, and the photos are absolutely amazing, but the execution is almost embarrassingly poor. I really, really hope Burton decides to drop out of the project; it would be a serious waste of his time and talent.

Speaking of Tim's tentative projects, I'm extremely excited about that Pinocchio film he's talking about doing with Robert Downey Jr.

I'd love to see Burton work with Keaton again.

I'd also love to see Burton do something totally out of his wheelhouse that could still have thematic through-lines with his other work, like Ed Wood or to some degree, Big Fish. The prospect of Pinocchio isn't very exciting. Disney might not have done it accurately, but they did it definitively with one of the all time great cinematic cautionary tales. Instead we're going to have RDJ do his usual snark-and-ham routine.

The book doesn't have to be good to be a good source for a movie.

It's directed by Timur Bekmambetov, so it will almost certainly be awful. The trailer certainly did nothing to excite me. It might be fun only as a double feature with Spielberg's Lincoln movie.

[face_thinking] I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking about it! Could have
    possibilities.

    I don't much like these mash-ups.

I'm really curious to see how the public reacts to this. Will they be in on the joke or will they find this offensive?

I think the vast majority will find it neither funny or offensive. Must will just think it's stupid and ignore it. After that trailer, that's what I intend to do.

I guess we can blame this on Twilight. Vampires are affecting the movie biz as never before.

I wonder if Lincoln has chiseled abs in the film? I wouldn't be surprised. Curse you Taylor Lautner!

The book was surprisingly clever, but it didn't necessarily make me want to see the movie.

I'm tempted to see this just to see the Civil War be actually about vampires :p

I dread the sequels and prequels...Winston Churchill, Vampire Hunter, Joseph Stalin, Vampire Hunter, Mark Twain, Vampire Hunter.

I think it will be awful, but in a good way. After all, its a movie about Abraham Lincoln being badass and killing vampires....

Nah, it's Queen Victoria, Demon Hunter. :p

JWD, I think this one can be blamed more on the fad started by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies than on Twilight.

The one reason I'm tempted to see it is to see if they have the balls to work in John Wilkes Booth being a vampire taking vengeance for a murdered relative or something like that. Because I seriously want to know how, if Abe could do backflips and run up walls with axes and stuff, how he got killed by a two-bit actor. :p
