JCC 'Tis the season to be grinchy

I only have 5 more days off this month. I'm not getting out of bed today.

 

Damn.

 

Well, I will be getting what amounts to an extra paycheck. It's a nice chunk of change. I'm spending the day playing home spa, pedi, hair color and yes...facial! And catching up on American Horror Story.

 

The one that irritates me is Feliz Navidad for some reason. Other than that, I LOVE Christmas music.

 

I'm more a fan of classical Christmas music than pop.

 

My Xmas spirit is usually of the bah humbug variety. Moreso this year. So....a happy Bah Humbug to you all!.

 

People at my store are always pining for me to dye my beard, and I always have the same answer... no.

 

I think they're telling you that something died in your beard.

You've got my sympathies, Debra. The only thing keeping me sane through out my work days this month are the 2 days off in a row each week (and a likely bonus when we get paid next, which happens next week). And in time for the holidays, the Lakers are off to their worst start in 10 years. 'Tis the season!

 

Yeah, sorry, but **** Christmas.

I wouldn't say that my family was exceptionally dysfunctional, but somehow every year all of our family dysfunction seemed to form a nexus around December 25th, like the eye of some weird hurricane made of anger, resentment, and disappointment that left a trail of the shattered debris of unrealistic expectations in its wake.

The best Christmas I ever had was in my mid-30s, when something came up that meant I had a rock-solid excuse to be alone in my house - roommate gone and all - for the holiday. I turned my cell phone off, put out some chips and dip and a few bottles of a very nice porter, and watched old MST3K episodes until I fell asleep on the couch. If I had my druthers, that'd be every Christmas.
