Rian just did an interview with MTV news, that TLJ opening crawl will be 3 paragraphs long.

It is a dark time in the GALAXY again.​

Although the STARKILLER base has​

been destroyed, rumours persist that​

even more death star type plot devices​

are being planned by the First Order.​

With Kylo Ren busy answering fan mail ​

from teen girls across the GALAXY, the​

RESISTANCE led by General LEIA​

prepares to make their next move.​

​

Meanwhile on a remote island of the coast​

of Ireland, Earth, the legendary JEDI master​

Luke Skywalker is ANNOYED to have his​

vacation disturbed...​

 

Darn, I was hoping for 5 paragraphs this time.

 

3 paragraphs? Just like all 7 other films.. Was he asked about how long the crawl would be?

him in the presence of General
Hux. Snoke sets Captain Phasma
to hunt the former Stormtrooper,
Finn.

Out in the Outer Rim, General
Leia tries to muster he forces to
defend against the First Order
onslaught Leia knows is coming.
But not all of her allies are
enthusiastic to follow the daughter
of Darth Vader.

Next news... TLJ will feature a 10 word sentence before the crawl.

 

RJ also said
"Even if it picks up right where the last one left off, there's still a lot of unanswered questions about what the state of everything is."

kind of obvious that the crawl will discuss the state of the Galaxy and TLJ seems headed for full scale Galactic War, so you have to set up the main players.

 

My guess is the first sentence will be Luke Skywalker has been found.

 

then in IX, Luke Skywalker has vanished yet again.

 

It will probably cover Luke's side, and the consequences of the Hosnian Cataclysm:



The galaxy is in chaos
after the FIRST ORDER
destroyed the fleet and
capital of the REPUBLIC . . . .


LUKE SKYWALKER has
been uncovering the lost
secrets of the Force at
the FIRST JEDI TEMPLE . . . .

Finally, someone made a thread about this, I thought I was the only one who cared. I'm not sure how the crawl will work, given that TLJ starts right after TFA...

 

It'll probably mention SKB being destroyed, Kylo Ren and Hux escaping and returning to Snoke. The rise of Laura Dern's character as someone powerful within Leia's Resistance and possibly what the KoR were up to during the events of TFA.

My first attempt at a title crawl. I did one for The Last Jedi of course.

 

That is brilliant Gobi. If I didn't know, I'd assume that was official. Love how you worded and structured the text.

 

I will say, regardless of how long the crawl is, I am indeed wondering what's going to be in it, if it truly does pick up RIGHT where TFA left off. Unless they are planning on doing some time skipping around, with Rey and Luke vs. progression of events elsewhere in the galaxy. I mean if it really does take place right after the ending of TFA, then what is there to say that we don't already know????

THE LAST JEDI

Luke Skywalker has been found. In his absence, the sinister FIRST ORDER has risen from the ashes of the Empire and will not rest until Skywalker, the last Jedi, has been destroyed.

Now without the support of the REPUBLIC, General Leia Organa leads a brave RESISTANCE. She is ever more desperate to find her brother Luke and gain his help in restoring peace and justice to the galaxy.

Leia has sent the mysterious youth from Jakku, Rey, on a secret mission to Ahch-To, where an old map has lead the way to Luke’s whereabouts…
