ST TLJ opening crawl

I think the opening for the teaser trailer would've made a great opening for the movie, but I doubt that will be what it is.

 

Maybe the opening crawl will be so long that the movie needs to be 2:30 instead of 2:13

 

Episode VI: Luke Skywalker has returned...
Episode VII: Luke Skywalker has vanished...
Episode VIII: Luke Skywalker has been found...

It should pan down to the Falcon coming out of hyperspace and flying towards the planet.

 

Whatever the crawl says, I actually think I'd prefer it if Rian held back Rey and Luke until a little while into the film. Set up Kylo and Snoke, the First Order and Resistance plot, then cut back to Rey and Luke.

 

Raw this, raw that.

 

After a convincing defeat at the hands of the Resistance. Kylo Ren has retreated to finish his training. Rey has found Luke Skywalker and now the Resistance is ready to rebuild in efforts to destroy the First Order once and for all. Supreme Leader Snoke has dispatched a secret battalion in search of Rey, while the galaxy and General Leia Organa mourn the death of Han Solo.

 

I'm happy that the crawl hasn't (as far as I know) been leaked yet, and hopefully won't. I really first got into the movies around when Episode II came out, and the Internet was just a baby at the time. I don't know of the crawl being leaked back then either. It was certainly a pleasure reading it for the first time on the big screen. The prose always sets a mysterious and adventurous tone against the triumphant Main Theme. I'm looking forward to the unknown! For The Force Awakens I had to hold my breath after the tilt down, but could exhale when instead of an orbit-bound lightsaber, the opening shot revealed a planet with a shadow...of a ship. Iconic is best! I'm less anxious for this film. Though an immediate descent to Ahch-To is workable, I'm still convinced we'll begin elsewhere: most likely at the Resistance Base, but I think starting with Kylo Ren could be a little trickier. Though I guess that might tie up loose ends from the last film's ending), it could prove too similar to the opening for The Force Awakens, which featured a lot of Kylo and Poe in the beginning. Who (else) should we see first then? Rey, Luke, Leia or Finn? Maybe a close-up of BB-8? The last paragraph of the crawl may be our clue.

 

Definitely! I agree wholeheartedly We already know Rey finds Luke, lets develope Kylo and Snoke to start!

 

I recon the film will start with a scene featuring either the Resistance or the First Order, Ach-to may well be the last sub-plot to appear.

The destruction of the New Republic and the Hosnian system has thrown the galaxy in disarray.

I'm sure everyone has seen this by now. Is it fake...certainly could be.

 

I'm calling fake: "is believed to be..." sounds super terrible.

 

Totally fake! Would have fell for it, had it not been for the glaring fact that Leia would not have to fill out more tax returns for THAT fiscal year. That would still be the First Order's responsibility until FY35679454432.

It's fun watching these videos. Kudos to everyone's creativity. However I'd say the video link three posts above provided by DarkCree, is fake. While there is little time between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, the opening crawl still needs to tell us something(s) NEW, not just be a neat synopsis of the last episode. The first paragraph alone starts talking about the First Order then immediately switches to the Resistance at the second sentence. Then after the crawl tilt down to a nice shot of Ahch-To and an immediate wipe in the longest Star Wars film but with the fewest wipes? I'm sorry to point out all of the flaws that I see, because otherwise it's quite enjoyable.

 

I highly doubt they would use "hateful General Hux".
