ST TLJ runtime reportedly 150 mins (longest SW movie yet).

As reported here we have a record long Star Wars movie approaching. This exceeds the previous record (AotC) by 8 mins. Everyone on board with a longer than usual SW film?

As a comparison, here's the run-time of all SW movies:

TPM: 133 mins
AotC: 142
RotS: 140
R1: 133
ANH: 121
ESB: 124
RotJ: 131
TFA: 138
TLJ: 150 ?

Too long in my opinion. Both Attack of the Clones and Revenge could have been tightened up a bit. I think 2hr 15min is long enough for a Star Wars film.

 

The OT running times are when they were released or the most recent versions?

About 2 months ago I said here: I hope they go for an Attack of the Clones' running time for this one.

A couple of more weeks for the Star Wars Minute guys when they get to it eventually.

 

But, I don't know about these run-times... AOTC is considerably longer than ROTS, not just about 2 minutes. And is it TFA that long?
I think this list is considering the ending credits, right? I'm not gonna check this now, but the time seems strangely off to what I remember...

If it's true, then I think that's the absolute limit to push the length of Star Wars films. It makes sense for TLJ because of the number of storylines that need developing, but I don't want to see future films indulge in longer runtimes.

 

Order the smallest soft drink size.

They needed to take time so Maz can actually tell the lightsaber story this time. The rest of the movie takes 30 minutes.

 

Then there's the long walk down those steps.

Star Wars Holiday Special - 98 minutes
Caravan of Courage - 96 mins
Battle for Endor - 94 mins
The Clone Wars (2008) - 98 mins

I think all of those were about 90 mins too long.

 

My guess is we're not just getting an extended Droid Factory Chase. Of four extra minutes of a duel over lava.

With so many characters and story lines I bet the movie flies by. There are so many characters in this compared to AotC or RotS. Everyone but Han Solo is coming back from The Force Awakens. Ad to the mix Laura Dern, Bencio Del Toro, Rose, the Porgs and whatever's going on with Snoke and his guard. That's a lot of stories that seem to be taking characters to different places.

Hey, I'm not saying I peed my theater seat or anything. But I was a kid, a stupid kid who drank too much soda and was distracted for the last 45 minutes of The Two Towers.

i have to wait a year so better longer than too short IMO
and more important that the story is well paced/written for that length, that would be even more awesome

 

15 more mins than TFA will hardly feel like anything. It all comes down to Rian's pacing and story.

JJ made 135 mins fly by.

 

I'm all for long movies if it's justified and not make you snooze the last hour or so.

The LOTR extended versions are a good example of this. Gone with the Wind, perhaps not
