Boyega's Pacific Rim: Uprising is releasing their trailer that weekend. Disney won't crush his movie by releasing Star Wars the same weekend. It'll be the 16th.

 

Lucasfilm is in direct competition with the studio that is doing Pacific Rim, Lucasfilm is not going to make concession's for another film franchise that just happens to have John Boyega.

 

I don't think the release date of a trailer is much of big deal anymore, IMO (including the question of whether or not a trailer drops next to another big trailer). Whether or not it goes viral online depends more on the quality of the trailer, and other hard-to-predict social phenomena. Still think it's October 9, but happy to wait until the 16th too.

 

Why would they care about another studio's film? Besides, that trailer is due to be shown on Friday 6th, that's three days before the rumoured trailer release date for TLJ - it's not like it's the same day.

 

People probably have time to watch two movie trailers on the same day, anyway. Especially since most people aren't like us, and don't watch a new SW trailer 122 times in one day.

 

Haha. Though I have to admit, the concept of watching another trailer on the day a Star Wars trailer drops is completely and utterly alien to me.

No it can't be coming out on the 9th - That's just a few days after Blade Runner comes out... They wouldn't do that to Harrison Ford!! It will be the 16th

 

Hey I was just trying to manage expectations. Remember how mad people were when it wasn't at the Super Bowl? Now Mark won't be the only one being roasted if it doesn't come on the 9th. It could, but if it doesn't the backlash will be HUGE.

Have no idea who their source is, but I checked with someone who would actually know and it sounds like that's the day. His cleaned up words were "Mark ****** up. So bad."

 

SWNN is awful, I used to stick up for them but I can't anymore. They present bs after bs and there site well.............
