ST TMZ has a BUNCH of set pictures up.

These photos where taken before the set was finished.

 

I was thinking on what a pain in the butt it would be to build the Falcon again, because if you dont have bluprints from the original then you are using still shots from the movies trying to guess and adjust stuff for placements so they are in the right position etc all the while producing the pieces as well. (Because us SW nutz will scrutinize once the movie is released for sure )

 

Everyone assumed the Falcon was being built 1:1, but looking back at these photos its clear the exterior under construction is a different structure to the interior that Kevin Smith visited. I wonder if they finished building the entire exterior.
Also I wonder how many x wings they built cos that pic shows several spare noses and engines hanging around

 

I'm pretty sure Lucasfilm had archived blueprints of the Falcon from both ANH and ESB. I think I read an article somewhere that said, because the ESB Falcon was bigger than the ANH Falcon, the builders on Episode VII are using a blueprint that's more in-between.

The only site that says it's not Tatooine is Badass.

 

Can't convey enough how incredibly lame and redundant it would be to introduce another desert planet that looked A LOT like Tatooine and even included the same exact moisture vaporators as shown on Tatooine. If we get another barren desert planet, I would hope that it would be Moraband.

 

Tusken Raiders?

The images we've seen so far make Tatooine out to be much more hostile than usual. Maybe they're really pushing the "hive of scum and villainy" angle...

Does anyone know if the McQuarrie drawings the set is based on are of Tatooine?

 

Well the one with the gateway to Jabba's palace, which they recreated brilliantly in Abu Dhabi was definitely Tatooine when McQuarrie painted it.

 

It was my 1st feeling aswell but the Tusken Raiders huts in ATOC were like this:

 

True. This could be another tribe in a different region or something though.

 

Plus, at this point AotC would have been what, 60+ years in the past?

 

We had two desert planets (Tatooine and Geonosis) in the same movie, so it wouldn`t be a disaster per se, although it would kind of suck.. It could be Moraband since George wanted to go back to the beginnings of the Sith, but I have a hard time imagining Moraband with moisture vaporators, marketplaces, giant pigs and Bob walking around.

 

Now I know why there are rumors that there will be a new superweapon. JJ plans to destroy Tatooine, Hoth, and Endor and replace them with new but almost identical looking planets.

 

Read closer please. Geonosis looks absolutely nothing like Tatooine and it certainly did not feature those moisture vaporators.

 

Yes I know that it doesn`t feature moisture vaporators, but I disagree about it looking absolutely nothing like Tatooine. It is also a desert planet with both sand and rock parts.

 

Rocks and sand... You got me there.

 

Curses if there are more than two desert planets in the entire Star Wars galaxy.

 

Well, the exact same type of vaporators have appeared on other planets in TCW and now in Rebels, so I don't think that vaporators = Tattooine necessarily.

 

What next... Both of them will have moons with subsurface water oceans on 'em? NASA nerd reference.
