CT To this day, does anyone find Palpatine's death ironic and hilarious?

    SYMBOLISM.

It depends on which version of the Bible you wish to use. There was Satan who had a right hand enforcer, this enforcer's name was Abbadon. There is a possibility that the enforcer's name is not known and the place of occurrence is called Abbadon. Anyhow, during the epic battle for the world and such Abbadon rises up against Satan and takes hold of him, chains him to a rock and throws him into a pit for a thousand years. this is of course exactly what happens to Palpatine with Vader. In later versions of the battle for the world there is no Abbadon but the arch angel Michael comes down and chains Satan to a rock and throws him in the pit.

Aside from that...."thown into a hole"? He was tossed down the shaft of the most powerful weapon in the galaxy and exploded in a fit of power. I'd call it an awesome way to go for a villain.

No matter how powerful he is he's still very old and much weaker than the time of III. Add to that all of the lighting he's been pouring into Luke which while effective was hardly burning him in a flash but hard to do then his loyal servant of 20 plus years grabs him and then throws him into something a bit more than a hole.

It takes him into the depths of the Death Star. What you are also ignoring is that Star Wars is in large part space opera. The emotions are grand and sweeping.

Don't go looking for hard SF kind of answers. Star Wars is a fantasy.

The very act of Vader rising against his master is a shift in the Force and now Vader is gone and Anakin is reawakened.

Actually if anything the PT really makes the whole ending much better (and I thought it was good in the first place) though going by your interpretation you are wondering why Palpaltine didn't just pull out his lightsabre and chop Vader's head off?

So what you are saying then is that you wish GL had shot some new scenes with Vader chopping off Palpatine's hands THEN picking him up and throwing him down the shaft or maybe chopping his head off first then throwing him down the shaft?
