I don't know what's scarier, the amount of things on the list (I feel like I'm spending a bit too much money at two or three albums every couple of weeks) or that I've not heard of almost anything on that list.

On topic, well, um, I bought the new Superchunk and Of Montreal albums today. Kind of feels inadequate though.

The Amazing Screw-On Head and Other Curious Objects, by Mike Mignola.

The robotic Screw-On Head takes on the evil of Emperor Zombie at the behest of President Abraham Lincoln. He is assisted by Mister Dog and Mister Groin. That's just the first story. It's beyond awesome.

Okay, the was a bit of a disconnect between my brain and my Best Buy card. What was supposed to be Season 11 of South Park became SP11, a 250 GB PS3, God of War 3, HDMI cables, and the Bourne movies on Blue Ray. I hate when that happens, so I also got some consolation Chinese food for dinner

The Gathering - Started out as metal, then got a female singer and switched over to Radiohead-ish arty rock music. I bought a double album they did a few years back, wasn't bad. They may have changed since then.

Sigh - Japanese black metal band, prog touches.

Nadja - Dark, ambient-ish stuff. Wiccan-y feel, if I'm remembering correctly. Haven't heard much.

Karl Sanders - He's in a death metal band called Nile. I haven't heard his solo stuff, but it's probably insanely complex and somewhat jazz-influenced.

Amon Duul II - Incredible "krautrock" band from the 70's. SUPER influential (in underground circles). Much of their material sounds like it could have been recorded today (though without all the terrible production techniques and loudness war bullpoop).

Carcass - Legendary grindcore band. Slowly morphed into death-ish rock as they went along. A major catalyst for the original black metal bands. The one Crest bought is their first, I think, and very primitive sounding. I bought all these reissues and the documentaries on the DVDs are pretty entertaining.

Glenn Branca - New York composer who uses multiple electric guitars in lieu of traditional symphonic instrumentation. Like nothing you've ever heard before. Massive dissonances, skullcrushing volume. Beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

Iron Butterfly - 60's/70's heavy band.

Slowdive - Shoegazer stuff from the early 90's (?) Shoegazer generally means pretty guitar pop with a curtain of feedback draped in front. Some bands were rawer than others. Slowdive was on the lighter end of the scale.

The rest, me dunno either, but they probably rock your mom's face.

Today I bought Bob Dylan - Bootleg Series Vol. 8 - Tell Tale Signs (2CD version)

I finally got my copy of Asterios Polyp. Best comic book of the year, plus it includes a great theory about male masturbation.

The Remains of the Day by Ishiguro and The Crying of Lot 49 by Pynchon. I've read Never Let Me Go and V. so I'm not totally unfamiliar with the authors. I wasn't planning on reading anymore Pynchon in the near future after finishing V., but $4 used! Can't complain about that.
