A movie about the retro-futuristic look of Tomorrowland seems dumb on its face, but I can't help liking the look

I'm a Disney nerd especially theme park history and this looks like it could tap that vein

the trailer looks great , and it's one of the few non-sequels this year , on the other hand - Lindelhoff . . .

I love how Disney likes to always take the EPCOT film out of context just to sell how Walt was a visionary about the future. They do the same thing when they say he wanted another theme park on the east coast of the US when this was not true either. Like milking an utter.

If this film was going to be really bad they'd have cast Brendan Fraser.

Don't you diss (Disney's) The Rocketeer!

Edit: Wait, that was Billy Campbell. Move along.

So, the review embargo has been lifted, and the general consensus seems to be mixed.

Mixed, so far. The posititive reviews are also mixed. As in critics like this and this, but dislike this. That or they're forgiving, "Film sucks, but it got the color of the sky right."

    Doesn't bold well.....

In other words Incredibles 2 just became super offical and we may have our Episode 9 director. [face_cowboy]

Lindlelof will be going back to TV.

What I got out of that was "a kid-friendly action adventure fantasy that is better than John Carter."

It looks pretty good but I'm going to wait for the reviews in the weekend papers before blowing £8 at the local cinema.

Yup. The Den of Geek review was pretty harsh. Now I'm torn.

Wow, the RT score is %52. That's not quite Paul Blart territory, but it's %20-30 lower than I would've expected a few months ago. I saw the words "preachy" and "disjointed" show up in multiple reviews.

I had this penciled in for this weekend if I got a day off (and I did. Saturday), but it looks like I may need to get out the eraser. These higher ticket prices really have gotten me to the point where I don't take as many risks, which is too bad.

    Marginally better than Poltergeist.

Tomorrowland maybe gets beat out by Pitch Perfect 2 this weekend. Poltergeist could come in behind Age of Ultron and lands in fifth place.

I hear you on cinema prices. I pay extra for the Sky Movie channels here in the UK and there are very few films I'll pay cinema prices for. I'll wait for them on Sky.

what gets me is they use to have different prices for time of day. Matinee, and Night time. Now they have them for which day too. There must be 10 different prices now.

With the window between theatrical release and digital/DVD having become so short in recent years, it makes skipping the theatrical run that much easier. Plus I've found that as I've gotten older that I don't need to see every film right away. In my 20s I probably saw 20+ movies a year at the theater. Now I maybe see 8.

Yeah, I was just talking about this with someone. I typically go to the bargain matinee since I work 3rd shift, and it's currently $5.90 at my local theater. Regular matinee is $7.90 and an evening showing is a whopping $10.90. God knows what 3D, I never see them. They also have bargain Tuesdays, Senior day, family day etc.

I try to go on a weekday afternoon at my local. Price is lower and it's usually not so busy if the kids aren't off school. I once had an AOTC showing all to myself there.
