    Another Souderwan friendly thread!

I'm not enough of a comic book movie enthusiast to put them in strict rankings, so I'll put the ones I've seen into rough groups

    Excellent:
    Batman Begins
    Spider-Man 2
    The Avengers

    Very good:
    Iron Man
    Iron-Man 3
    X-Men First Class

    Good:
    The Dark Knight
    Spider-Man 1
    The Amazing Spider-Man
    Superman Returns
    X-Men 1 & 2

    Bad:
    X-Men 3
    Man of Steel
    All four Batman movies

    Absolute train wrecks:
    Iron Man 2
    Spider-Man 3
    The Dark Knight Rises

How can you have a top ten thread that you CREATE YOURSELF and then list a trilogy in #1?

It's breath-takingly lazy and inept. Come on.

    1. Superman: The Movie (1978) - This movie (at the time) made me believe a man could fly; Christopher Reeve is my definitive Superman; inspiration and tonal blueprint used by Marvel Studio president, Kevin Feige, to create the Marvel Cinematic Universe
    2. The Dark Knight (2008) - The real world approach to Batman worked wonders; made the Joker into a dark pop culture icon.
    3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) - Hail Hydra! Throwback feels of a 70s spy thriller.
    4. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) - Totally awesome soundtrack and characters; made a talking tree and raccoon work
    5. Thor: Ragnarok (2017) - Wonderful Masters of the Universe and Flash Gordon feels; refreshed the God of Thunder
    6. Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - They payoff of everything that came before it; Thanos becomes one of the best cinematic villain
    7. Spider-Man 2 (2004) - One of the best sequel in Hollywood history and at the time, many considered the best comic book film ever made
    8. X-Men: First Class (2011) - The film eXcellently presents how different ideologies can make best friend into worse enemies; seeing Erik Lehnsherr as a Nazi Hunter and then break bad was perfectly done. Truly shows Magneto as a complex character and the precursor for the MCU's Killmonger. I will the Star Wars prequels' Anakin Skywalker path to the Darkside was written this way.
    9. Deadpool (2016) - The best romantic comedy comic book film since Sam Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man movie.
    10. Conan the Barbarian (1982) - I'm counting this as a comic book film, since the source material can be traced back to pulp magazines and comics. The musical score of the film perfectly matches the film. And the opening voice over really sets the stage for the film, "Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, Conan, destined to wear the jeweled crown of Aquilonia upon a troubled brow. It is I, his chronicler, who alone can tell thee of his saga. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!" The movie delivers on this fantasy adventure.
Honorable mentions: Joker, Black Panther, Kickass, Superman II, Kingsmen: The Secret Service, The Crow, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame, 300, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Logan, Spider-Man: Homecoming; Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse; Spider-Man

I didn't remember, actually. I just used the search option near the top of the forum for "comic book" and checked the box next to "Search titles only." BTW, mods highly encourage everyone to use this search option before creating a new thread on the message board to avoid duplicative threads.

Damn I forgot about V for Vendetta. I think I'd add that and Watchman to replace Spiderman and X-Men First Class.

7 years later, the only additions to this list would be Black Panther at the current number 4, and Logan at the number 6. I want to say the bad ones have grown increasingly terrible, but being honest, monotony is the key signature of this "genre" anymore so it's probably just that it is all more irritating.
