I'll do top 6 cause that's probably the max # of people on Earth who will read this and care


1. Knights of the Old Republic-- Everything I'd dreamed in a game, I pounded off-brand Mountain Dew and basically disappeared after Christmas to create my own Star Wars character and travel the galaxy and OH HEY FIND OUT I WAS THE ****ING BAD GUY THE WHOLE TIME. I wanted to throw my controller through the screen at that...then I played it like 100 more times

2. Mass Effect (series)-- If a video game makes you cry it should be up there, I'd put this over KotOR if the off-brand Dew wasn't such a great childhood sensory trigger

3. Pokemon Red/Blue-- Spent an entire vacation staring at a Game Boy only for my brother to erase and start a new game once we got home. I didn't kill him and bury him under the garage out back I swear. The surrounding cultural zeitgeist bumps this up the list

4. Halo 2-- How this isn't Top 3 given I skipped senior prom to go to a Halo party is melting my brain but here we are

5. Sonic the Hedgehog 2-- SEEEEEGA

6. Goldeneye-- Precursor to Halo parties and also the big heads thing was hilarious


Shout to MarioKart aka BeerioKart especially on the Wii, and-- speaking of-- bonus shoutout to Diddy Kong Racing which probs doesn't get its due

2. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
3. Team Fortress 2

Less than 10 but these are the games that I like to keep coming back to and can now be officially played on PC. I am more of a PC gamer these days.

A couple of your games just missed my top 10 list, like Zelda.

I vividly recall the arcade game that Mike Tyson's Punch Out was based off (I think)

 

^That's neat. Never played that one before.

 

It was in the arcades. Back when arcades were everywhere. Including right outside the Return of the Jedi theater where all the kids played as they waited to be picked up by their parents. Arcade games were so far ahead of Atari 2600 consoles of the time, so the graphics blew our little minds. I recall Punch-Out!!! looking amazing in the arcade. And the see through boxer was a great effect (as opposed to just being miniature in NES). But that smooth boxing feel looks quite clunky now.

I remember this looking a lot better in the arcade as well.
