It may not be for you, idk. It's themes of revolution, freedom, anarchy, equality, and the oppressive nature of capitalist society resonated with me. Also it was full of righteous rants, which is something that I enjoy. And generally part of the reason that I like science fiction is getting to see author's imaginings of what the future can be, what human society can be capable of, etc., and I found this to be an example of a society that appealed to me. Like I said, it probably isn't a book that everyone will enjoy, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

    :p

    Edit: Rogue1-and-a-half

Let's stick to fiction. Off the top of my head, In alphabetical order:

    1984 by George Orwell

A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole

The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe

    Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams

    The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

John Dies at the End by David Wong

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell by Susanne Clarke

The Pleasure of My Company by Steve Martin

    Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt Vonnegut

I've read better, and arguably there are other books that I actually would rate higher, but these were the first ten to come to mind, and I love them all for one reason or another. I could explain those reasons, but I'll save you the trouble.

Too many Saturday Morning 80's cartoons and 70's cartoons from Mighty Orbots, Smurfs and D&D to Johnny Quest to simply try and name one for a tenth spot.

True Blood, Game Of Thrones, Once Upon A Time: these will be future contenders.
