It was called 'The War Song'

It was the profound chorus that went "War is stupid..." :D

Alpha, are you sure this is a song about war and not your Villiage People video?

High Fidelity was one of the first films I bought on DVD. The book is set just around the corner from where I used to live and Dark Score still does. Made me LOL all the way through.

And yes, Arun reminds me of John Cusack's charecter too Cass.

I know he's a fan of the film too.

We could go really in-depth here...

Best opening song on any album?

You'd have to have Smells Like Teen Spirit [i/i] by Nirvana up there somewhere. And Start Again by Teenage Fanclub - but I guess no-one know that...

    Top 5 Hidden Tracks?
    Top 5 Boy Bands?
    Top 5 number one singles?
    The first record you bought?
    Favourite Star Wars JW track?
    Top five disco classics?
    etc etc

When the film first came out on DVD, Arun went into High Fidelity mode. Every hour he asked for a new top 5 list. LOL.

OAC, I used to work in a little independent record shop in Leeds and it was scarily similar to Hi-Fidelity. Our shop was a bit smaller but we still used to laugh at sad people. One bloke came in and asked for "Heaven on Earth" by "a woman"...! (Belinda Carlisle, natch) We laughed long and hard. This was in 1997...

The bit where he goes, "I'm now going to sell some Beta Band albums," before putting on the Three EPs CD is classic! We used to do that kind of thing all the time...

    Customer: "What's this?"
Us: "Why, it's the new Labradford/Mogwai/Sublime record, sir!"
    Customer: "I'll buy it!"

I worked in an independent record shop!!!

There's no place to hide your elitism in a place like that. It's a pre-requisite of the job that you display your elitism to all and sundry....

"So, would I recommend CD1 or CD2 of the Drugs Don't Work? Well, sir, CD2 is immeasurably superior..." Hee! Hee! :p

    ref: Arun = John Cusack

Nah...I got more records than him :D

It is a top film...the scene about what makes a good compilation tape when he's sat on his comfy chair with his headphones on is un-nervingly familiar with my goodself
