We love a good pan-European car versus public transport challenge on Top Gear. So far we've pitted an Aston DB9 against the fast train to Monte Carlo (victory: Clarkson, Team Car).

We've run a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti against a jet aircraft to Verbier (victory: Clarkson, Team Car). And we put a Mercedes SLR McLaren against a boat to Oslo (victory: Clarks... etc, etc).

Now comes our greatest race ever. The route is from the northern Italian town of Alba to the southern British town of London.

Jeremy takes the incredible (and incredibly delayed) 987bhp Bugatti Veyron, while Richard and James are once again going by air. But this time there's a twist, because your pilot for this TG Airlines flight is Captain May of the King's Own Still Having Flying Lessons Corps.

Clarkson will be punched straight through Europe by the mighty fist of the world's most powerful car. The other two will be taking a not quite as-the-crow-flies route because James can't fly over the Alps. Apparently he hasn't done that bit of the course yet.

Nonetheless, Clarkson could be in trouble this time, unless, of course, James flies as slowly as he drives.

it's about cars mainly, but it is hilarious and quality sunday night no-brain tv.

I don't really like cars much, only interest is really the classic Mini and the Jaguar XJ220, my two dream cars, but I love top gear. Quality sunday night entertainment.

Hammond Bashing - A great sport.

 

I've never really been into cars that much but Clarkson is one of the most entertaining people on TV.

 

my brothers obsessed with top gear. he made me urn off what i was watching to go see what time it was on tonight and see what was happening.

I love Top Gear, it's so funny.

 

it was hilarious tonight, especially when they were out in the pissing down rain doing the time trials on the isle of man!

it's repeated on tuesday night at 7pm for any one who missed it.

Thanks Wiz. I realy wanted to watch it. Never watched Top Gear before. I do like Jeremy Clarkson though. I've noticed women hate him...

 

the interaction between him and the other two presenters makes the programme worth watching, as you will see in the sketch i referred to above. the way they treat james may in all the programmes almost makes me feel sorry for him.

We sell a lot of Clarkson and Hammond's new books where I work, they're very popular.

I do enjoy Top Gear immensely, the big problem with it is that they dont spend enough time reviewing ordinary cars, they only focus on these ultimate sports cars that ordinary people cant afford or wont get cos they have no practical use in this country.


It would be nice if they reviewed standard cars so people like myslef who are going to start learning to drive and getting a car know whats good to get & whatis not.
