    Plagueis will be a Hutt.

    A purple Hutt with a high-pitched voice.

Eh. Wasn't Lucas was the one that asked for Plagueis to be a Muun? If so, that probably stays into the NU.

Honestly, I don't think it's reasonable to treat these databank updates as an accurate representation of what is being ejected from canon. Were they to make these type of changes years ago, we'd just assume they're dumbing down their content for the lowest common denominator. If you'll recall, that did happen at least once---we lost all of the glorious WTS entries. So that may be a significant factor here too, not just canonical realignment.

This is not to say that these updates don't reflect the "new reality", just... I doubt that's the whole picture.

RF it's way more fun to assume what's in the databank is literally all we know about Star Wars now though

what kind of ship is the Millennium Falcon? some kinda junker i guess!

I just caught up on the heights discussion. Maybe making Mon Mothma 1.5 meters is their way of making up for the fact that all the humans in the Legendsverse are so damn short.

The GFFA will now have exaggeratedly tall people.

ETA: ...or not. Luke is 5'8", Han is 5'10".

I always suspected that all those height issues had to do with the fact many American SW writers have trouble working with the metric syste--no offence intended.

Putting aside the EU or the NEU, or whatever - the new Databank is a poor guide to the movies. Didn't even make an entry for the Intergalactic Banking Clan? What, they couldn't rack their brains for an uninformative paragraph?

    Here you go LFL:

"The Intergalactic Banking Clan was an organization during the Clone Wars. They participated in some of the events of the war. They were involved with banking throughout the galaxy, and had some sort of clan-like structure."

There's also a pony-like creature in the Ewok comics:

None taken. I can believe that or their just wanting a universe full of short people to make themselves feel tall.

I always had this theory that the Towanis were a somewhat conservative Corellian family who mostly spoke Olys Corellisi.

But it IS all we know. RF is correct that it's not necessarily an indication that everything is ejected if it doesn't appear on the databank: after all, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

However, we cannot simply *assume* canon anymore. For instance, my hyperbolic TIE Bendywing comment would've been a valid point if TIE Interceptors weren't namedropped in the "TIE Fighter" entry. Up until we see something in the canon, we can't just assume it's there.

I mean, a couple days ago we could've assumed Kessel was still a potato and we'd have been *wrong*. That's old EU thinking: :it's no longer "canon unless contradicted," it's "canon only if shown or used."

Heck, I was more concerned with the fact that as I browsed the databank, it hit me. We've lost all this stuff, most of my favorite characters are legends, truly, the end times are near...

    But have no fear!

Meebur Gascun and the idiot brigade of droids are still canon. :(

Hey, at least Cad Bane is still Duros. I think.

As I browsed the Databank, I realized how boring Star Wars could be without the EU.

    Yeah, especially this
    http://www.starwars.com/databank/hutt

is just kind of depressingly short given the very intriguing and complex history the Hutts of the EU had :(

[face_laugh] Oh my, that's worse than my joke IGBC entry.

If they really wanted to strip the EU, they should've reverted back to not even having names for most of the alien species.

Yeah, kinda sad to compare this:
Hutts are large, slug-like creatures known to be gangsters. They control Tatooine and are involved in organized crime throughout the galaxy.

To their nice long Wookiepedia article. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Hutt
