[Total Spoiler] Alderaan Destroyed

I've received word from various inside sources who have obtained a shooting script that the homeworld of Princess Leia and Bail Organa will be destroyed by the Empire's "Ultimate Weapon".

It is also ssumed that Bail Organa, Senator for Alderaan, will be killed in this event.

Boog's: word in the spoiler circles say that Leia will not be on Alderaan when it is destroyed. I hypthosise that she is on the "desert planet" searching for her mysterious brother, since it is likely that Yoda has been in touch with her via the Force and alerted her to her heritage.

 

Well, she might be with Yoda, actually, who's training her for her future. After all, somebody has to make shure she won't lose the will to live half through the movie.

Maybe the destruction then is just a hoax to get her out of her hiding. Much potential for the reunion scene of Bail and Leia then.

 

I, for one, find this one rather difficult to believe.

I mean, the entire starfleet couldn't destroy the whole planet. It'd take a thousand ships with more fire power than I've... *bangs head on desk*

 

That would totally stink if we lost Bail - I liked him.

 

What if Bail's a double agent and blows up the planet himself?

 

Is leia killed in the explosion?

 

Don't believe Supershadow! Coruscant will be destroyed at the end of Episode 4, after the new Seperatist Senate Movement tries to oust Palpatine. He uses the Ultimate Weapon Sphere as his Imperial Palace from then on, where Yoda and Obi-Wan attack with the Amidala Loyalists in Episode 5.

 

I agree, it would take a thousand ships, and more firepower than the Empire has. The whole idea is inconcivible.

 

According to spy reports, it doesn't actually destroy the planet, but the large dish sucks the Force out of the planet's population, feeding the energy to Vader in order to heal him. Qui-Gon's ghost is pulled into Vader's energy field on accident, and Vader gains his energy. That's why Yoda moved to the swamp planet of Endor in ROTS, so that he can hide amongst the wildlife!

 

This is a stupid idea. We go to the Star Wars movies for stories and philosophical insight, not huge explosions. That Trade Federation ship in TPM is quite enough big-explosion-fun for one saga.

EDIT: I wonder if Jimmy Smits suggested this idea to get out of his contract

I have to agree that this is very unlikely; Alderaan is of major importance to the rebel alliance with Bail there; and, even if that "superweapon" would be able to (been there, done that, reminds me a bit of Spaceballs megamaid as much as that sucks ), the Senate would have to protest. Sure, we have the Empire, but the Senate would need to protest to maintain the perception of usefulness, IMO.

 

What a crazy idea! How can you realistically destroy an entire Planet? I thoght Star Wars sunk to a new low of unrealism with Padme dying from a broken heart.

 

I think it might have something to do with that spidery metal ball Vader and Sidious were watching from the bridge of the cruiser at the end of Sith.

Yeah, that pick is fake. C'mon, I can draw something just as good in MS Paint. Destroying an entire planet would be folly.
