Before we start, I'd like to say a few things.

  2. Please remember that this tournament is for you to vote whatever YOU think is the better novel.... not that of anyone else. :)

  3. If you have never heard of one of the options PLEASE take 30 seconds to click on the link (it will take you to amazon for a view of the cover and a summary). This is also helpful for reviewing books you may have read years ago!

  4. This tournament will have a new vote APPROXIMATELY every 24 hours. You will be alerted that a new group is up to vote because the title will change. For example, on a tuesday the title might be "Tournament: Best Star Wars Novel--Endor Region Round 1 " and then on wednesday it would be " Tournament: Best Star Wars Novel--Hoth Region Round 2" If you miss a vote it is not a big deal, but you cannot vote after the round has been closed. I do forget and/or get detained occassionally, though, so be patient please :)

  5. The last rounds will have extended voting time to allow as many people to vote as possible.

  6. To begin with, 2 pairs of books will be voted on for each round. This is done for time reasons. The later rounds will feature only one pair.

  7. To vote, all you need to do is look at the most recent vote announcement (one of my posts, and it will have a colored bar from what category it is in for easy visual recognition) and write ONE title from each pair. If you want to vote for one of the pairs but not the other, feel free to do so! But if you vote for anything other than what is up for the vote, your post will be ignored.

  8. Please feel free to engage in some discussion, especially comments as to why you voted for what.

  9. If at any time you'd like to see who has been eliminated and who is still in the running, please check the 2nd post of this thread, where I will be crossing out all eliminated options.

  10. As always, all the normal rules apply. If you are found to be breaking the JC rules in this thread you will receive a warning, and may be forbidden from participating in the tournament after that. No voting with socks! If you have any questions PLEASE PM me!!

  11. And that is all! Enjoy :)

    droideka EDIT: tourny over!

    Haha . . . ah, hem.

I haven't read any of these four. Sorry. :p

Great work on the tournament, though, Droideka, it looks like it will be one of the most popular yet! :D

Vision of the Future and X-Wing The Bacta War get my vote in this round. I picked Vision mainly because I like Zahn's writing better. The other one was a tough decision. I basically did the old einy, meiny miney mo thing.

Vision of the Future, by Timothy Zahn.

I'll pass on the other pair, since I haven't read either book in its entirety. :)

Vision of the Future and I'll pass on the second pair.

    droideka27:
FYI, I'm not sure this was deliberate or not but The Unifying Force by James Luceno appears in both the Bespin and Kamino regions.

The Bacta War (by Mike Stackpole)

And as an aside, interesting to note that both the above authors holiday together in Tasmania, Australia. My random fact for this thread.

    This sounds like fun.

    First pair:

Vision of the Future by Zahn

X-Wing: The Bacta War by Stackpole

    *appears*

Good to see this up! [face_dancing] And amazed at the people we have, great stuff! :D

Wow, there's been so many comments about the reasons.... :p

    Vision of the Future
    by Timothy Zahn
? Frankly, Bakura sucks in comparison in my opinion. :) Zahn I hold high, and he did the Hand of Thrawn Duology very well. And he basically set up Luke and Mara for the future. =D=

    X-Wing Isard's Revenge
    by Michael A. Stackpole
? Tough choice, really. Both being X-Wing books, and both of Stackpole's. I love these books....
Would have to go with I's Revenge because of the intrigue and brilliance in it for bringing back the character in such a believable way. But both, good books. :)
