    Tournaments

Tournaments are an important part of the Census forums. Tournaments are generally updated daily, and keep users checking into Census daily. Census Tournaments have been on a variety of topics.

    How Tournaments Work

The tournament host, currently Tyi-Maet_Nefer, selects a topic for the tournament, often from the suggestions in this thread. He starts the tournament and asks for nominations. Once the nomination process ends, the tournament host compiles a list and randomizes them and arranges them into brackets. All tournaments use the bracket system, and are randomly paired up. The tournament begins with the first round of voting, and continues until there is a champion. All JCers are eligible to participate, as long as they follow the rules.

    The Rules

Rules may vary in each tournament. Please check the first post of the tournament that you are participating in for its specific rules. There are a few generic rules, though: 1) Behave! Don't insult others or otherwise break the rules of the JC and 2) You may only vote once for each round, don't use socks to try to vote more than once. Getting caught doing this could earn you a ban, and will certainly bar you from further participation in the tournament.

    The Point of this Thread

This is the Tournament Suggestion Thread. This is the place for you to suggest ideas for a Tourny at ANY time. It is also a place for me to suggest the next tourny and get feedback from you guys. If you think the system could be improved, here is the place to say it!

As long as it is done tastefully and in good sport, I think it would be fun to have a best mod competition. :p

How about best rock album? That would be pretty cool since there are a lot of really-hyped albums....

How about best Star Wars species? Nominees like Noghri, Wookies, Twi'leks, Hutts, etc ...

I read through the creatures "mini-tournament", and I thought that the sentient species could use a tourney of their own

A few ideas that come to mind:

Comic Book Character Tournament - Plenty of characters around to keep things interesting.

    TV Character Tournament - Ditto.

Non-Star Wars Movies Featuring Star Wars Actors Tournament - A little weird, I admit, but it would be nice to see faceoffs like Batman Begins vs. The Two Towers and so on.

John Williams Scores Tournament - Not sure if the interest would be there (ironic given this is a SW board), but I'd sure love to participate in such a tourney.

Oooh me too. Maybe we could do it as a mini tournament

    Best lightsaber design.

Like any respectable star wars fan, I collect lightsabers and the designs are interesting to say the least...they vary from practical to beautiful, and most carry with them the history of their bearer.

    Has this been done before?

Both the John Williams Score and Star Wars Species tournaments sound good to me. :D I'd happily be involved in both. :)

BlackAdder, that would be intriguing, although a question I have is how many different ones could you find? You'd probably need pictures with every one, too. And no, it hasn't been done before in Census. :)

I think there exists a large enough number of different sabers to warrant a tournament.

See http://www.thelightsaber.com/ for some great examples.
In fact, you'll find pictures and a brief history of nearly every lightsaber in the Star Wars universe (including the EU).

Tracy, I don't know if it is at all feasible, but if it came to it and you wanted to run a mini tourney and a major one, I would LOVE to run the JW tournament. Not that I'm trying to take your forum from you. :p Just a suggestion.

The time has finally arrived when The Boogie Man steps out from the shadows with his domination plan in motion. [face_devil]

Ohhhh, it was too tempting not to say. :p

I would find it interesting to see what would happen if there were two tournies on at once. Regarding the amount of voters in each, that is. :)

Heh. I was so excited about the SW species idea that I completely missed the JW scores suggestion. :p I really like that one, too.

That would be a cool one, granted I already know I would vote for Lucky.

EDIT: Or maybe that Cookie Crisp dude and his dog, now I can't decide. :_|

This would be fun. Moreso if it would be expanded to include live-action mascots like Ronald McDonald and the Burger King.

I ripped it off out of an issue of Toy Fair [face_blush]

Adding Ronald, The Burger King (he'd own all comers), would be a good idea.
