Census Tournament Suggestion Thread -- summer tournament discussion

Does a literary character really hinder a SFF Book tournament?

 

Not as far as I'm concerned.

By the way, if anyone's interested, the Favorite Sci-Fi and Fantasy book tournament is up and running

 

It's been a couple months since the Literary Character tournament ended, so it's time to open negotiations again. I'm going to be hosting this tournament, but I have very few ideas as to what we could do. So I'm counting on you, the viewing public, to provide suggestions.

So, have fun, and let's get those ideas coming in.

I guess it could work.

 

Is anyone really interested in this? If no one does, it's going to be a miserably long tournament anyway, so I'm fine waiting for a bit. If people are interested, speak up, even if you don't have any ideas or opinions on what to do.

 

Could always go back and redo one of the older tournaments. Something like movies, where there are plenty of new options between when the original was up and now.

 

That sounds like a great idea. Enough new movies have come out that it would be quite different from the previous version.

I'm okay with that if you guys are. I'll wait a few more days to see if anyone else chimes in, but if not, I guess we can start a noms thread.

 

Random suggestion: if we go the movie route, might be worth a shot to advertise in Amphitheatre and maybe SFF: F&T too. Could get a bit more interest from those areas.

 

About time to start up another one of these, maybe another updated version of an older tournament. Ideas?

Well I guess it depends. Favorite Sports Team might be my reccomendation but the idea was rejected in the past for the idea being too skewed to the US.

Historical figure was another one I liked a great deal and it would be fun to do an updated version as we've had more history since then.

I'm all for what ever movie or actor ones you guys like.

 

Actor could be interesting: even moreso if we ruled out anyone appearing in a Star Wars movie.

 

I thought the Actor one was good. We did include SW actors last time.

 

And one won, too. Makes it kind of predictable if they're included.

 

How about a Challenge: Star Wars Trivia
Rules
1 Only The Aalagartassle can ask the questions.
2 There can be only 1 entry per sentinent being for each question. That being will PM The Aalagartassle the answer and avoid cluttering the thread.[Though you can say sent answer on the thread].
3 Each correct answer is worth five points, no loss points for the wrong answer.
4 The first sentinent to get to 50 points wins the game.
5 1 question will be posted every day and last 24 hours only .
6 A tally of the top 3,5,10 depending on the amount of entrants will be be updated each week along with the answers.[suspense!]
7 Questions will be only be sourced from cannon material.

Im up for anything since i never participated before, movies would be good, they could be for the past year or so to keep things fresh
other suggestions (some may have been done before but i only briefly looked at the past list and i have bad short term memory):

card games

some of these may not work since i am not really familiar with tourneys...but i plan on participating
