Census Tournament Suggestion Thread -- summer tournament discussion

Bit too soon for movies, I think, since we did them last.

 

Book genres might be too small, but favorite book might be feasible.

 

To avoid having a similar result to the Favorite Movie tournament, perhaps make it favorite book/book series?

Favorite country sounds like all kinds of trouble. Favorite animal could be awesome though

 

Favorite species, perhaps?

 

That would seem to make things smoother. So instead of Dog you could do Golden Retriever as well?

 

Well, we could set certain classification limits, such as only one nomination per genus.

 

Well, you'd be able to nominate "horse" (generic), but that would exclude "donkey" and "zebra". Similarly, you could only nominate one of "tiger", "lion", "jaguar", or "leopard", as they all share the genus Panthera. With such a system, we might allow for multiple nominations within the same genus, with the species with the most votes making it onto the list.

 

Sounds like it could work

 

There were more than six months between the last two, so I wouldn't worry about missing out. Some time mid-winter for the next one, probably.
