Census Tournament Suggestion Thread -- summer tournament discussion

How about favorite TV of all time? Many possible categories: SF, Sitcom, Drama, Reality, Even Game shows and stuff like 60 Minutes. That could be a huge tournament.

 

Great ideas from the both of you. We'll definitely keep them in mind when new tourneys come around the corner. Of course, as you can see above you, thoughts on new tournaments often occur before one goes up.

To alert anybody in here that might be interested, The Video Game tournament has taken hold in the Games forum. Nominations have just started here; I thought it might be good if some regulars who enjoy tournaments joined in. It's also to let you know if you didn't know about it.



We can scratch one off the list of potentials in here then!

Favorite JC game?

It would have to be a mini-tournament, and I'm not even sure there are enough options for that...but it would be interesting.

 

Definitely a thought to think about. It will be added to the list, Prenn.

Right. The CGI mini tournament is nearing completion. In fact, in only about three days time, it will be complete. So, unlike the wait between last tournaments, I want the gap before the next one to be minuscule at best. ;)

The next full, 128-sized tournament will be one of the following:

1) [b]Favourite Historical Figure[/b]

or

2) [b]Favourite Landmark[/b]

If there are no objections to either of them, I was simply going to with the historical figure tourney since it was suggested in here first I think. Landmark would then follow. Thoughts?

 

I realise this may have dropped off of people's radar lately. There's only a day left in the current tournament. Any thoughts?

Can we have a tourament where we choose what our all time favorite line is from a movie?

 

Sure. Landmark is going to be our next tournament, but after that it's really up for grabs what we'll do. A favourite Quote tournament might fit right in. When that time comes, I'll be getting opinions from everyone here about which idea they'd like to see happen first.

 

I like the favorite movie line tournament idea.

I remember a while back they did a Favorite Super Hero Tournament. Why not do a Favorite Action Hero Tournament? Where people like Indy and James Bond may not have made the cut last time (I can't remember if they did or not), now they can.

'tis the only place though. And even then there are about five to ten people who know heaps and then knowledge basically falls away after that. Perhaps if we did a TV Show tournament, anime shows would fall under that broader category?

 

Actually, why limit it to movie lines? I see a 'favorite quote' tournament working out even better.

Okay, I kid, I see what you mean, and it's not actually what I had originally meant a month or so ago. What you suggest is intriguing - basically, if it's famous enough, a quote from anywhere? I see no problem with that. It would certainly spice things up in a good way.


After the current Landmark Tournament, I'm really open for what the next one will be. At the moment, I do not favour any choice. I'll be asking for people's opinion on what they'd like when it comes to it as there's quite a good ideas floating around now.

 

I'd even go for splitting it up into movie/TV and other, depending on a) the interest, and b) how many good ones could be found from each.

 

Favorite Super Hero? If this happened, Hiro Nakamora will be in there if I manage to get a say. And Jesus, of course.

Hmmm, I don't know if people would know enough of them in here. That side of music is more specialised in most people's cases. However a favourite band/artist tournament might be workable.
