Tournament Suggestion Thread

Yes, the Census forum has a new phenomenon, tournaments. For those unfamiliar with these types of threads, the following should explain how they work.


How Tournaments Work

The tournament starter (a mod or admin, in this case) chooses an idea, either thought-up or suggested. He starts the tournament and asks for nominations. Once the nomination process ends, the tournament starter comes up with the brackets that people will vote on in each round. Once that is done, the tournament begins.


The Rules

Rules may vary in each tournament. For example, the nomination process may be longer in one tournament than another and the tournament starter may ask that each nomination be seconded. Also, the way the brackets are set up may vary also. In one tournament, you may have alphabetical matchups, while in another, you may have random matchups. One rule that will be consistent throughout each tournament: A person should not vote with a sock if the person has already voted in that matchup with another username.

This may all sound complicated, but it's really quite simple. It's also extremely fun. Now that I have introduced the concept, I welcome any suggestions or comments any of you may have.

Does a Nintendo video game tournament sound like a good idea? I'm referring to games published/developed by Nintendo.

Cool, I'll make that the first tournament, then.

 

Since we're doing Nintendo there should also be a follow up with best PSX/PS2 games. Maybe even a best system (excludeing computers) tourney.

Yeah, JWK, the current tournament will certainly not be the last video game tournament. However, the next one will probably be about something else. Maybe movies or music.

 

Just a thought, you might try movies or something. Pick some popular movies around the JC, and put them. Not any of the Star Wars movies though. Just like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Stephen King's ect.

Anime Movies
John Williams Scores
Star Wars Characters
Movies of the '90s
Songs of The Beatles

Should one of these be next? Do any of you have any other suggestions?

The Book-Movie Adaptation Tournament-
it could include LOTR; Jurassic Park; Harry Potter; etc.

 

You could maybe do a "Best film to win the Best Film Oscar" tournament.

 

Drat, I was going to suggest the Oscar one too. Eh, great minds think alike.

How about Shakespearian plays?
