Char, NC Toys R Us Midnight Madness Clone Wars Toys Event 7/26@12:01am in Pineville

Hey folks, just to let you know the Toys R Us in Pineville, NC is going to be doing a Clone Wars Toys release event on Saturday 7/26 (really Friday night into Saturday morning). Star Wars characters will be there to entertain the crowd.

 

OK, here are some more details:

We'll be meeting up at Jason's Deli in Pineville at 9PM. If you plan to attend to help out as a wrangler (unless you have a costume approved by either the Rebel Legion or 501st please wrangle) then you are more than welcome to join us for a late dinner.

After dinner we will head over to Toys R Us and help the troops suit up. We will be going out at 11pm to entertain the masses and pass out goodies like temp tattoos, stickers, activity books, etc.

At 12:01a.m. the store will open to the public for people to purchase Clone Wars Toys.

We'll probably be there until 12:30/1am.

Let me know if you are attending. You can also just attend the event for fun!

If you plan to wrangle and have a CFF shirt please wear that.

Ah Midnight Madness . . . how true it is! What can make parents drag . . . I mean allow their children to stay up way past their bedtime but a toy release and what better toy release is there but a Star Wars toy release.

The Carolina Garrison gathered at 9:00 p.m. at Jason?s Deli for some late dinner and fun before the event. The excitement was building as members arrived (and were cheered by their other fellow members) and curious dinners looked upon these strangely jovial folks all dressed in shirts with Star Wars symbols on them. One woman even dared to approach us and ask us if we were a club or something. DZ-5232 Jada had the chance to explain what the Carolina Garrison was and that we would be in costume at the nearby Toys R Us in about an hour. Her children heard and begged her to take them. Being a good mom she did!

We left the restaurant and caravanned over to Toys R Us to find people in line already. They got excited when they saw us carrying in our costume tubs, weapons and the special guest star of the evening R2-KT!

Troopers, Clones, Scouts, Tuskens, Jedi and Padmes dressed and went out to mix and mingle with the growing crowd. Children were delighted as TK-899 helped induct several of them into the 501st as Honorary Imperial Cadets. Parents were just as delighted to take pictures. Several children were in costume and we had children sparring with lightsabers and even chasing down our own co-organizer of the event ? TI1626 ? David. Members posed with children and even let them hold their giant guns.

Around 11:50pm TK-899 Dean suited down to start a simultaneous podcast between Charlotte, New York and Taiwan! The crowd got more and more excited as the hour neared and at midnight the madness truly began! Crowds poured in and ravaged the shelves claiming goodies for themselves and their children.

And now it was R2-KT?s chance to shine. Everyone was overwhelmed to see a working droid and children clamored to get their pictures taken with her. Parents who hadn?t brought a camera quickly went a bought a disposable one. R2-KT was guard by TK 8750 - Garrett who dressed appropriately to match KT!

The crowd was going strong until after 1:00 a.m. when it trickled down and the finally the madness was over.

We?d like to thank Toys R Us Pineville for having us at this event. TI1626 ? David worked hard with store manager Marcia to make this happen while DZ-5232 Jada did the PR work. When troopers work together good things happen. Marcia has invited the Carolina Garrison back to the store to do a Toys for Tots event!
