Didn't really know what section to post this in because there is no DVD section and it's about both Episodes I and II.

I noticed recently that both TPM and AOTC DVDs (Region 4 PAL at least) were encoded INTERLACED, that is, as VIDEO (rather than film).

I am aware that Episode II was entirely shot on digital, but it's 24 fps PROGRESSIVE digital, which is the same as film.

Why would Van Ling make this kind of blunder? It hurts compression and for progressive DVD players and equipment, I can only assume they wouldn't look as good.

The OT are correctly encoded as film.

    Isn't PAL Region 2?

Pal is Region 2 and Region 4.

Region 2 is Europe, and Region is Oceania (Australia/New Zealand).

Some DVD's are encoded to play on both British and Australian DVD player.

Umm, this probably should go in SWC, seeing how this forum has nothing to do at all with AOTC or TPM...

And all this technical talk ahs gone over my head. [face_blush]
