From last week, I gather others are collecting the Topps cards, though I wasn't sure who brought the box in. Maybe we can get together and swap sometime. I would prefer to wait until after the movie. The cards (and even the checklist) are loaded with spoilers from what I have read, and some of us are still trying to avoid them, dificult as this is.

There are some chase cards out that I wanted to mention, in case you didn't know.

The current issue of Wizard magazine comes with a promo card featuring Chewbacca. BAM had them on the shelf last week.

There are blister packs that come with 2 packs of cards plus a bonus chase card. There are 3 chase cards: Yoda, General Grievous, and Clone Trooper. Target had these last weekend. I learned a trick from someone elsewhere on the web: you can shake the pack a little and see the edge of the bonus card; this way you can tell the difference between them and get all three without randomly searching through packs.

Cosmic Knight - it was me (Jill) who brought in the cards. Those were my dups and I gave them to Hollie. I am collecting cards, those were the first I have purchased.

I am not an avid collector so what is a chase card?

Sounds like Jill and I need to go shopping with you so you can show us the tricks.

I was tickled several colors when Jill gave me her extra's. I've just started to collect the cards. I just need to find out where to buy the plastic sleeves so I can store them.

Sounds like a winner to me - since I didn't get the card I wanted out of the box :)

Now in June, we having a camping trip. That would be an excellent opportunity.

Wookiefan, by chase cards, I mean the special cards outside the standard/base card set, like the dups I had from the Ep I/II sets I traded you for the Clone Strike Miniatures starter set back in January at our meeting.

Here is a summary for the ROTS cards someone posted at starwarscards.net (Link):
    90 base cards
    5 Promos
5 Morphing cards (2 Retail, 2 Hobby, 1 case exc)
    10 Embossed Foils
    10 Stickers
    10 Tattoos
    6 Etched Foils
    12 Tin Exclusive
    3 Blister Exclusive
    41 Sketch artists

I would consider everything outside the 90 base cards to be "chase." Some of these, like the promo cards and the blister pack exclusives I mentioned above, you will never find in a pack of cards. It is pretty complicated, IMO, trying to keep up with all this the way they have done this set.

For example, here is the info on the promo cards for another thread there (Link):
    - Promo Card #1 Hobby(available with Diamond Previews at the end of January, also NSU Apr/May '05)
    - Promo Card #2 Retail/Mass Market (available at the end of January)
    - Promo Card #3 StarWarsShop.com (free with purchase starting in February)
    - Promo Card #4 Celebration III (available at Celebration in April)
    - Promo Card #5 Wizard Magazine (in April issue #169 )

So far, the promo card from Wizard is the only one of these I have. (I assumed wookiefan would be interested in that one since it has Chewie on it :) ).

I did get the Wookiee card in the Wizards Mag. What was left may have already been returned to Anderson Publishing. I was hoping the few copies that were left would get gone. :)

I haven't been to the store to see what came in the Mag shipment yesterday.

Do you know if BAM carries the Non-Sport Update magazine? It is like the Becketts, except for non-sports cards. The current issue has Vader on the cover and comes with promo card 1. I want to get a copy - not just for the promo card - but I don't know if any stores in the area have it. If I don't find it soon, I will probably just order a copy off their website.

BTW, that promo card contains a mild spoiler, if it has the same picture I saw. It shows two characters dueling in a certain situation. I haven't even seen the trailers yet, so this may even be in there. Also, the scene makes sense based on known plot elements and greatly foreshadows a scene in the Original Trilogy, which is why I call it a "mild" spoiler.

Oh, Cosmic Knight, I purchased another SW Card Tin tonight. (Call me a fool), so any cards I don't already have can be yours for a wookiee trade....

    :)

that is If you haven't gotten them all, already.

Even having bought 4 of the 6 tins, and several more packs of cards, I am probably still short of a complete basic set, so I will be wanting to trade.

Thanks for requesting the Non-Sports update. Any idea on how long before you know if the store can get it? Let me know here or by e-mail when you find out anything.

BTW, have you seen the Nickelodeon(sp?) magazine. It has Chewbacca and Tarfful(?) on the cover with the caption "Wookies of the Year."

I did see that Nick mag and I rushed on up to the registar and purchased it....(i am so silly sometimes)

The Entertainment Weekly has pics of all the new wookiees.

Our Mag buyer is trying to get us that magazine. All I had to say is that B&N carried it...and that peaked her interest. I will keep checking the ticket but I am not sure how long it will take. We only get new mags on Thursday. But I will get the Mag Specialist to keep an eye out for me too.

I will keep getting cards when the mood strikes, then. I have a good many of the chaser cards, but....

I read elsewhere on the web that B&N sometimes carried NSU, but I did not see a copy in the Columbus store a few weeks ago. I don't think I was really looking for it at the time, though....

I checked our Non Sports Update ticket yesterday and the buy says they are "in process" what ever that means.

But at least the ticket is still open. that is a sign that they are still currently working on it.

I got a call from the buyer today. I am going to provide them with information about the magazine, from the mag website. So the buyer can see about purchasing it.

Figures they can't do a google search themselves.

I stopped by Target on my way home after the meeting. I did not find any ROTS cards. No tins, no blister packs, no individual packs, nothing. :(

I will have to look around for you Cosmic. Try Walmart in PC. I think they used to carry them anyway.
