I'm sure there is a Pirates of the Caribbean thread out there somewhere. Kudos to whoever made it. However, this thread for those who appreciate the tragic characters. They may be deemed antiheroes, villains, antivillains, whatever. Let's try to keep the characters we mention in here along the lines of a grey-black morality, not black-v-white, unless you are so inclined. Many have appreciated Davy Jones and his music. The song he played for Calypso was intense, of course, but it certainly is among Hans Zimmer's best compositions, as we all know. Then, of course, there's Mr. Freeze, the Phantom of the Opera, and other characters of this nature. I would be inclined to add Severus Snape, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and others to the list. The moral ambiguity and nuance of such characters are magnetic traits, indeed. For my part, I like Severus because he was willing to work with the devil before he aided in his defeat, as it were. Clever man. So, that's pretty much it. Anything to get feelings of these ideas, compare-and-contrast, and complexity. Let it flow and dream away. We love 'em. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3rDVfu0eMI My fave: Batwoman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7jU3CrvK_Q&t=54s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRmpAaoyX4s&t=8s
Interesting, Ender. Well, I always liked V. He defended so many, despite his negative emotions. I've always been intrigued by abstract-negative-absolute. How about you? It flows through all ideas.
He gets even more tragic when the twist ending reveals that he had split personality disorder. His jerk father was himself all along!
