Not sure if this qualifies as an Easter egg, but you can hear a creature's screech sounding off in the Star Destroyer ruins that encourages Rey to leave.

and if you listen closely in the shot of all the first order troops gathered on the snow planet you can possibly hear an echo of General Hux speaking

Lol. No, I meant that maybe my post wasn't considered an egg. But, yeah...you can hear Hux, or whoever, saying something about the defense of their base.

35mm has been around a lot longer than 2006. He's deliberately using an old technology, rather than the standard blockbuster tech that it was Lucas who pioneered, for no actual reason. Other than the obvious.

No, easter eggs are always related to the next big movie. So, GlaDOS perhaps?

The point is that it's his preferred method and has been since long before he took on the SW gig.

Had Spielberg made TFA instead, guess what he would have shot the film on?

Yeah I know. Star Wars is Star Wars. Some of the movies are better than others but no matter how anyone feels or what anyone wants, They all count, so I think it's time for some people around here to get over how much they hate or like them and just let it be.

I actually still have seen any direct quotes from Abrams about this. I've seem people extrapolating what they WANT to read from a quote where he never actually said that.

Yes, because if you like the PT even a little bit, you're not allowed to hate Jar Jar. Or, ya know, he realizes that Jar Jar is pretty widely disparaged character overall and he knew he could get a cheap laugh.

This sentence right here pretty easily negates everything you've said since you don't seem to know what a practical effect is. This movie (Ep VII) will have as much practical effect work as could reasonably be done. JJ Abrams is ADAMANT that they use as many practical elements as humanly possible. My suggestion to you would be to look up the definition of practical effects and then you can come back and admit that you have no idea what you're even talking about.

Uh, that's literally what I'm complaining about. "practical effects" is an old and (mostly) outdated technology. Star Wars has always pushed the limits of film tech, while using the old tech only when necessary. Abrams is doing the opposite - on purpose!

Some practical effects still look way better than CGI. That's the reason it's being used.

No they don't. 80% of practical effects look like kids playing with toys.

Many directors use 35mm and other formats. Not everybody is shooting digitally. There is nothing wrong either way. Every director is different. And I never said that he invented 35mm... o_O

    This is just dumb.
