Not really, that's like saying you are a lump of meat - He is a machine, he's also a robot, but his correct classification is "sentient android". A robot can be programmed, Data is a robot, advanced Terminators are robots, the Replicants in Blade Runner and Ash, Bishop and Annalee in the Alien movies are robots - their similarity to humans makes them androids but they can be programmed to perform certain tasks (in a convincingly human way). The Transformers are not robots, they can not be programmed anymore than a human being can (by brainwashing, etc). The Transformers are living organisms, only made of advanced materials compared to our cellular structure. In terms of sentiency the Transformers rank as high as us and the animals of this planet, way above the androids/robots of SF with their manufactured bodies and pre-programmed emotions.
