    LOL Joey7F :D yeah i know Luke Skywalker (or any other name beside maybe Darth Vader) is not translated (as it should be) but some icelandic guy back in 1977 translated Luke Skywalker into Logi Geimengill. Chewbacca was translated 'Tóbakstugga' which means "Tobaco-chew" for the special edition of star wars. Everybody laughed in the theatre, it was just so stupid! but they changed it to 'Chewbacca' when they showed SP of ESB and ROTJ :)

    Who was the freak that in the first novelization of Star Wars back in 76-77 translated Chewbacca to Tuggbuss and Chewie to Tuggis.... And that was the only name they translated? Can someone be held responsible for that? Is there noone I can sue?

    Why didn't they translate Luke Skywalker into Luke Rymdgångare? Han Ensam?

    And who was it that left the dots out of Darth Väder? Translated back to english it would be Darth Weather...

    I've never had a problem with Artusende Falken, that sounds kind of cute.

    And shouldn't Luke Skywalker be something like Lukas Himmelsvandrare.

    Maladour, I think Ordkedjan (the guys who do translations of movies) started that thing with Tuggbuss. Sue them! :D

    Thanx sweetheart! I'm going to be economically independent for the rest of my life after this.... They destroyed my childhood.... tuggbuss... yuck...

    Anyone remember the documentary "From Saga to..." that the swedish television aired sometime around 1984? They subtitled Obi-Wan as OB1 all the time and didn't have a clue that he wasn't a robot like 3PO and R2... kind of funny...

    I always thought that the Icelandic translation for Jedi was Væringi.

    Also...

    Afsakaðu félagi en stafsetningin hjá þér er ekkert sérstök... bara smá athugasemd.

    Gray_Mouser: ekkert sérstök? ég get ekki séð betur en að ég hafi stafað þetta rétt. Nema 'árás klónana' sem á að vera 'árás klónanna'. en það á nú ekki að skipta miklu máli. orðið 'Jedi' hefur aldrei verið þýtt (aldrei heyrt þetta orð Væringi). Ertu frá íslandi?

    Jamm ég kem frá Íslandi.

    Þetta voru bara smá stafsetningar villur sem skipta svo sem engu máli eins keisaraveldi en ekki keysaraveldi og árás klónanna en ekki klónana eins þú varst réttilega búinn að benda á.

    Væringjar í mannkynssögunni voru úrvalshermenn keisarans í Byzantium. Þetta voru nær eingöngu norrænir víkingar sem höfður gengið í þjónustu keisarans(þar á meðal Íslendingar).

    Væringi hef ég úr Star Wars bók sem var þýdd yfir á íslensku og ég las sem krakki. Þar hafði Logi eftirnafnið Geimgengill en ekki Geimengill og Jedi voru væringjar.

    Ég sé eftir því að hafa minnst á stafsetningarvillur því núna er ég of meðvitaður um það sem ég er að skrifa og er að passa mig á að gera ekki stafsetningavillu sjálfur... sorry félagi.

    allt í lagi :) Geimgengill er nátturlega betri þýðing (auðvelt á ruglast á þessum tveim orðum). Mér finnst að þeir hefðu frekar átt að þýða hann Loga Skýgengil, það hljómar ekkert verra.

    Wookié = Vákur

    Tarkin = Tjörvi

    Han Solo = Hans Óli (oh ömurlegt)

    Leia = Lilja

    Owen = Ófeigur

    Þetta er allt úr Stjörnustríðs sögubókinni sem ég átti... þetta eru þýðingarnar sem ég man. Og jú það var GeimGengill og væringi...

    Ó og en gaman að sjá íslendinga hér... ég er búinn að ver hér í 3 ár og þið eruð þeir fyrstu... HÆ!!! :D
