Star Wars Treasures of the Past [Closed SW RP]

Mowlu watches impassively as Etog died, his silent scream frozen on his face. He looked up from Etog's face directly at the spider's myriad of eyes, a promise of a quick, yet vicious death in store for the Spider seen dancing in his eyes as he stepped up to grab an large Rykk blade, not unlike his own. He tosses it from hand to hand, testing the weight, grunting with satisfaction, he grabs a modded A280 series Blastech Blaster Rifle, turning it over in his hnads as he examines the barrel for any burrs, seeing none, he double checks the cartridge to see that it's fully charged, and easily to exchange with with the extra one he was allowed to grab. He grabs the shoulder scabbard for the rykk, and slide it on over the left shoulder, he then takes the blaster and slides the shoulder strap over his right shoulder to add better recoil buffer. He takes a quick look over at Dew, before heading out into the arena, teeth bared and a howl to chill the blood of most creatures.

 

Dew looked at Mowlu and grunted. He then walked over to the weapon rack and grabbed a bowcaster. He checked it's magazine to find normal rounds inside. He looked around and found a magazine strap and put several mags for the bowcaster. Specifically 1 normal, 1 explosive, and 1 poison. He then replaced the normal mag in the caster with an explosive one, then placed the normal mag in his strap. While searching through things he found a bowcaster that shot energy bolts. He didn't grab an extra mag for it though.

"if we are doing this then let's do it. These things are terrible, but this is a young one. I loaded explosive rounds in this caster, I think they will help us a lot. "

Then he remembered that he might need something to hit it with... He looked at the blades, wookie made our not, and didn't like a single one... Then he saw a 20lb sledge. It's not exactly like grandads blade, but it will do.

"I'm ready when you are" he told close to the door, posed for combat.

 

Reno decided enough was enough. He had seen enough of these fights to know when the odds were stacked against the foe. Surveying the room, he looked for anything that could change the state of play. On top of the cage he spied a trapdoor that was put in place by cables attached to a winch. He surmised that the activation of the winch was controlled by a computer switch, which was most likely hooked into the mainframe. Better yet the trapdoor was close to the Hutt on his platform.

Opening the script on his datapad, he began to search the mainframe code for a command he could use to activate the trapdoor.

 

The Wyyyschnock stood ready for the attackers. It had fought a few times in this arena before, killing gladiators who fought before. As Mowlu exited the door first, a tangling web came right at him, wrapping him up and dropping him to the floor. It was only a small simple web that would take a few seconds to get out of, but as the spider was preparing to jump, it got scared as Dew ran out of the door forced by the guards, and leaped to the cage above the pit about half way between the edge and the center of the cage, opposite the two wookiees.

The pit was barren. Just hard duracrete made the floor and walls with nothing to hide behind. It was an open fight, each side just as exposed as the other.

 

Mowlu manages to get the web off of him while the Wyyyschnock is distracted by Dew's appearance. He quickly brings up his rifle as he re-positions himself alittle ways from Dew to create a possible crossfire between the two. He takes aim and fires off 3 shots (16), his sword easily accessible if the spider decided to close in.

 

Dew aims his bowcaster and shoots an explosive round. Knowing the wyyyshnock could move quickly he didn't want to give it any time to react again.

Yelling a war cry he hoped he hit close enough to hurt a leg or 2...

 

Hal scanned the code on the screen of his datapad. He saw that, while the computer for the panel was linked to the network, he could not directly control the door from inside the network. The raise/lower command for the door had to come from the panel itself. What he could do, however, was attempt to hack the panel's remote access function. He knew a few of the Hutt's cronies carried these remote activators and he bet he could piggyback on their signal to raise the grate.

Hal had modified his datapad's internal antenna so it could pick up a broader spectrum of bandwidths. He ran a scan that searched for unique digital signals in the room, from high to low band. Doing this only took a few minutes but in that time he saw that the action in the pit was heating up. He winced as the Wyyyschnock threw a web over the first prisoner. A small beep from the screen brought his gaze back to the search. The datapad had found 6 devices operating on the same distinct band. He could tell by their ID tag that 5 of them were remote signals and one was a receiver signal. "Gocha." he said under his breath. Pigybacking on one of the unique mobile signals, he cloned the ID tag command and transmitted the "open" command. He grinned as the winch began to hum and the metal grate began to creak open.

 

Reno scanned the room, looking for escape options and noted a few possibilities that he found. Other than that, though, there wasn't much he could do other than watch the fight and try to figure out a way to get the wookiees out of their situation. He hoped they could survive the fight. Then, he heard a hum and after a moment noticed a gate that he hadn't seen begin to open up on the top of the cage above the pit. His mind raced, this was his opportunity to help his friends and he knew he needed to act fast. He lept to his feet, making his way toward the opening door as he scanned the room for anything that he could use to get the wookiees out.


After the Wyyyschnock lept to the ceiling, two shots came it's way. The first one, a normal blaster shot hit the creature (2 dmg), but the second sped toward its legs, which the spider pulled towards its body, letting the explosive round harmlessly hit the cage it was clinging to. Almost as soon as the tiny blast from the explosive round faded, a hum filled the room. It wasn't a loud hum, but it was quite distinct and noticeable, even above the roar of excitement in the room. It was followed by a creak of metal that hadn't been moved in a long time and a clang as a door started opening in the top of the cage covering the pit where the fight was happening. The noise was enough to distract almost everyone from what was happening. The Wyyyschnock turned its body slightly away from Mowlu and Dew toward the noise and the room quieted with intrigue as what was happening.

Almost as quickly as the calm had started, it was over again. A guard who had been standing near Ridu, the Hutt leapt to a small panel close by and started pressing buttons on a screen furiously, but his actions only seemed to slow the cage door opening. From the same general area, a few people shouted, "NO!". Ridu started screaming something in Hutteese to someone behind him that nobody could see. All around the room, panic arose and screams filled the chamber as they all noticed what was happening on the underside of the cage and ran toward the exit they had come through. The Wyyyschnock had already been clinging to the underside of the cage and the new opening, which would be an escape from the two furry animals that had been shooting at it and also a place that it had never been before, was only a short distance away. It began crawling toward the open space which was already big enough for the spider's thin body and began slipping through.

 

"At the ready my friend!" Dew yells at Mowlu. "im hoping that thing goes out there, if so lets run with it so there wont be much resistance." Dew held his bowcaster still aimed at the creature, but taking a tally of guards and others in the room that might stop them. he checked the door behind them. seeing it was shut he began to move toward the wyyyschnock hoping it would get the hint and leave the cage.

 

Mowlu grins as he goes back to grab the web that had entangled him to use as a makeshift rope to climb up to the opening once the Spider has cleared it. "Be careful and keep your distance, it should head on out. this web should hold long enough for us to climb out." Mowlu said as he started to stretch the web strands out for his purpose.

 

Hal grinned as the cage opened further, catching the attention of the spider. This was all working as planned. He hoped the chaos he created would give an opportunity for the downtrodden to rise up against their oppressive master. Grinning again at the poetic words in his head, Hal searched the mainframe code for the server that controlled the prison locks. This would be an opportunity to sow further discord in the palace. His probing stopped short at the firewall that protected the system. Hands flying over his datapad, Hal activated a subroutine that he hurtled at the firewall. He knew that, if succesful, the subroutine would embed itself in the security system and release a virus of his design. He was fairly confident it would take down the firewall, and was even hopeful that it may overload the server altogether.

 

Reno looked around once again at what he had seen before now that he had a better vantage point closer to the center of the pit and saw something that might be useful, but to use it, he needed a way to get up high. As his mind raced, it crossed the finish line of the plan he had been forming in his mind, he just needed the Wookiees, so he shouted to the Wookies, "Get up here, you can climb these!" He gestured to the bars making up the cage covering the pit.

If Hal's virus was a success, he would likely never know as there were more pressing issues. The Wyyyschnock finished crawling out of the cage. The audience that had been watching the fight was now completely consumed with exiting the door they had entered causing a jam of people at the doorway and the commotion drew the spider's attention. The guards, on the opposite side of the room from the people, the guards turned their attention from what they had been to the spider. A few of them fired a shot, making them purposefully wide so as not to accidentally hit the people opposite the spider.

At that point, several things happened at once. The spider leaped onto the crowd around the exit door and bit into the closest unlucky individual. Ridu, the Hutt was himself now in a panic and fleeing out of the room surprisingly fast for his large size and awkward way of movement. As he exited, two guards ran into the room shouting something unintelligible. One of them was holding a datapad and he scanned the room realizing what was happening and completely lost focus on what he was doing, dropping his datapad. If panic described the room before, it wouldn't come anywhere near to describing it now. There was a few people running everywhere in the room, even one on the cage trying to get away from the spider. People were getting trampled in the hallway from the room to the commons room.

 

Mowlu looked up in the direction of Reno's voice and silently nods in agreement. He quickly runs up to the bars, grabs hold, and starts scaling, the weapons slung over his back to make it easier for him to climb. "Hurry up and get climbing!" Mowlu growled at Dew, watching the youngling just stand there.

 

The screen of Hal's datapad suddenly had a large red message flashing over the code: INTRUSION DETECTED. He cursed, knowing that he had been far too cavalier with his access. But suddenly that realization was overshadowed by screaming and panic. Hal's attention snapped to the room and he saw that the spider had now escaped. He felt the panic of the crowd begin to edge in on his rational thought. "Think!" he screamed in his mind. "Remember the exercises Vital taught you!"
Scanning the room he could see that the main exit was bottlenecked with panicked spectators and guards alike. A few of the guards shots at the spider whizzed by Hal's head and he ducked behind a chair. Peeking his head cautiously back over them he now saw that the guards had actually attracted the attention of the spider who know took a bite out of the nearest spectator. Satisfied that it was sufficiently distracted, he frantically looked around for another exit.

 

Dew watched happily as the creature left for easier prey. that will teach him
then he heard Mowlu yell something about climbing... Dew turned around to see Mowlu scaling the wall. "why???" he yelled only to realize that Mowlu wasnt gonna answer. so Dew put the safety on, slung his bowcaster over his shoulder, and started climbing.

 

Reno kept his eyes on the beast. Incase it came after them... he had his tranqulizer still. he was preparing to use it in case the creature attacked.

 

One of the two guards who had entered the room was a captain of some kind and was able to keep his cool even given the intense situation. He began barking orders to the other guards. In response, several of them moved to more tactical positions and some stun shots started flying across the room in addition to regular.

On the other side of the room, the Wyyyschnock continued its rampage through the crowd, which was significantly smaller by now with people shoving out the door. It stabbed its pincers into another two individuals, but since they were obviously not fighting back, his attention was obviously in the wrong place and he began to look around until a stun laser hit him in rear and he turned his attention towards the guards. A few of the other people in the crowd also took a few stun laser shots and dropped to the floor.

 

Mowlu reached the opening that the Wyyyschnock had exited through, and squeezed himself through it. Once out, he kept his head low, and looked around for another exit since most likely the Main Ent/Exit would be bottlenecked by now. He looked around to see if he could spot where the Hutt had exited the room. Hopefully, if he spotted it, he could easily escape the madness, and maybe net himself a Hutt to boot.

 

Hal spotted the door the Hutt had exited through. He winced as stun bolts started flying through the room, one ricochet coming close to hitting him as it was absorbed by the chair he was hiding behind. "Its now or never" Hal thought. He knew that as the spider ran out of targets to kill, it would soon find him. Keeping his head low he made a break for the door hoping the guards weren't spooked enough to shoot him by accident.

 

Dew Followed Mowlu and kept a close eye on the Wyyyschnock as they moved about. squeezing through the same hole a moment after Mowlu did, Dew noticed Mowlu was looking for something... or maybe someone. then it hit him, Mowlu was looking for the hutt. i know he hates them but we should really get out of here. "Mowlu! do you honestly think we should go looking for the hutt? unless he has the only safe route out of here we should really just leave while our hides are still intact!" Dew yelled over the room hoping that he was heard.

 

Reno yelled after Mowlu "FORGET THE HUTT! LETS GET OUT OF HERE!" He hoped that the wookie would listen.

 

OOC: What unfortunate timing...

The Wyyyschnock had fully turned around at this point and was looking towards the guards when the wookiees came crawling out of the cage directly between the spider and its targets. It didn't hesitate a moment and spit a dart-like thing out of its mouth directly at the two wookies, hitting Mowlubacca right in the chest. (2dmg) and poisoning him. That attack was the most dangerous part of the Wyyyschnock and one thing that made them so well known, especially on Kashyyyk. The spiders didn't have very many of those barbs, though they could grow them after they shot them, if slowly. Being young, this spider likely only had 1 or 2. The poison would cause the target to pass out within about 10 minutes and death following shortly after.

The room was starting to get quieter as the mass of people exited the room slowly, which made it easier to understand what the guards were shouting. One of the guards shouted, "He's the hacker!" and pointed to where Hal was trying to sneak. It was clear now, there were 6 guards. 4 had been in the room during the cage fight and the other two had entered the room just before the Hutt exited. There were two pillars to either side of where the Hutt had been standing and three of the guards were behind those, with two crowding behind the one on the right. Two were crouching behind the platform the Hutt had been watching the fight from and one was crouched low near the cage.

 

Reno had expected the spider to attack, and wasted no time blowing a dart of the sedatives he had gotten at the spider, hoping to incapacitate it.



Rolled a 14 for that.

 

Dew got up just in time to see Mowlu struck by the spike. Dew quickly rushed to fire a round at the wyyyshnock.

 

Mowlu winced as the dart hit him. "Kriffing hell.... I'm done in a few mins,..." He yanks the barb from his chest, causing him to grimace with pain and threw it at one of the guards, hoping it'd hit one.(16) He then grabs his rifle and fires off a shot at the one that just pointed out the hacker, hoping to catch him off guard.(12)
