Trials of the Force: Episode 3- Destiny's Knights

This is it. The third and final chapter of the Trials of the Force trilogy. The plot and characters are our own creation.

By "our" I mean myself and excalibur2358. It was a team effort from the start, a project that began quite a number of years back (I'd say about 5 years), but it only took off when excal discovered the boards and began posting.

Yes, as excal loves to remind me, I was hesitant. But that was only because I had been on the boards for a scant few days.

But, even as I look back, I'm glad I went along with it. This project would still be a dusty old idea hidden, buried even, in the back of our closets.

Because of our readers and their expectations, we moved onward. We thrived (and still thrive) on the responses: shocked, surprised, amused, delighted or angry.

Even though excal posted his story first (Dynasty's Dawn), the first book in chronological order was mine, an embarrasment named/prequel named "A Different Rebellion" (just the first half... I DO intend on rewriting the entire first half... the second half was better... for more on that, you can visit A Different Rebellion ).

Excal's own creation known as "Dynasty's Dawn", the first book in the Trials of the Force Trilogy, began the adventures of our heroes, who you will meet shortly. For more info about that, you can visit excal's story at Dynasty's Dawn

Then, after that, was our second book in the trilogy and our first collaboration. We thought it went well, especially since we FINISHED "Hand of Fate" before the first two. Hmm... even while we were posting "A Different Rebellion" and "Dynasty's Dawn". Something is missing here people, and it ain't Waldo. Just our brains. However, we had quite a few different concepts, and ideas, and as a result, "Hand of Fate" took off. Here it is Hand of Fate

It is not necessarily required reading, and you can follow Destiny's Knights on its own, but you'll be missing a few ideas. For a better grasp, Hand of Fate would be the best referrence to go to. As much as it pains me to say this, nothing MAJOR happened in the first two books (other than the introduction of key characters and the establishment of their relationships... minor details), but Hand of Fate is critical to the series. If you want, you can ask me for a condensed version, and I'll PM it to you.

It's been over a year since we first posted, but here we are...

And no, this is not an actual post, but a hint of things to come. Excal will post the trailer after this.

And a note to readers... the author will post his own work. It is not for the sake of ego boosts, nor to distinguish who wrote what, but for simplicity and ease of posting.

Of course, it's also nice to know that the comments are directed to the right person (a minor problem we suffered occasionally in Hand of Fate... minor).

Lastly... There are intense interrogation scenes and some language. Please do not say you have not been warned.

Ok, a couple of things...

For those of you who come from Casper's advertisement from his story, The Fading Light, welcome.

You will notice that a lot of the posts will be mine. In fact, the majority will be mine. On word, it goes 70 pages before excal writes his first part. (don't worry Jace fans, he's still around... temporarily )

And I think you'll notice the changes that occur in my writing style rather quickly. I guess you can say I've matured, or evolved, but I do have an inspiration for that, and his name is Casper Knightshade. You'll see it seep through (and how! oops... maybe that was a spoiler.... )

But the "seeping-through-inspiration" doesn't take place until later in the story. I won't say when, just to be mean but if you read Casper's work, you'll know it when it hits you

HEY GUYS! Long time no see!! Well, here we are, in the thread that will soon contain the final chapter in the saga that Jaxx and I cooked up over the span of, what, two, three, four years? It sure has been a wild ride.

As Jaxx pointed out, it took me a while to convince him to post the story. He was afraid the characters and stories would be stolen. If we hadn't done it, however, we would never have received the confidence in our story-telling skills that you've given us. Nothing thrills us more when reading through a thread than seeing feedback and comments.

So this is it. Episode Three. The end of the adventure. Of course, Jaxx and I are friends for life basically, so who knows what collaborations we can cook up in college, but for now, this is it. Our farewell tour.

You didn't seriously believe this was it, did you?! We have some interesting concepts for a new trilogy. Some characters you'll know, others will be a little different. Different locales, different journeys. But all one hell of a ride.

We have pointed out in numerous threads on numerous occasions that Turu and Jace are basically Jaxx and myself, with a few modifications here and there. Upon re-reading Destiny's Knights last night before our first post, it really became clear how very true that is. The odysseys Jace has gone on reflect very much on some of the things I have experienced, and I'm sure that Jaxx would say the same about Turu.

We'll be leaving high school in twenty something days at my school, and I've been reflecting a lot upon the past four years. Star Wars has always been a major link, a bond that held my life together, in one way or another. I'm glad that I got to share at least this with all of you.

I'd love to thank all of our readers that have stayed with us and hopefully will continue with us along the way. It sure has been fun. Since I won't be posting for a good month or so, lol, I cooked up a bit of a trailer for you. Theories are always appreciated. ?Mazza!...? Turu whined. Arcturus Lynx, leader of the Ghost Fleet and a mix between a light side and dark side Jedi, was no match for his stubborn and diplomatic wife.

?Turu...? the Madam President put her hands on the First Lord?s cheeks. ?For political purposes, I will be known as Mazza Phobos... but to me, and you, I will always be your wife.?

Arcturus bowed his head in defeat. He suddenly snapped back up and said, ?Oh! Before I forget...?

?Yes?? Phobos asked impatiently.

?I have a gift for you...? Lynx took out a box, and with great ceremony, handed it to Mazza. She opened it slowly and carefully.

?A lightsaber??

Arcturus beamed proudly. ?Remember when I killed Furio, I told you I crushed his lightsaber? Well, I saved the Corusca gem and I made a mini saber for you. It?s a bit longer than a dagger, but about half the size of a lightsaber.?

Phobos nodded and said, ?So it?s like a dirk??

?Yeah. A dirk saber.?

Mazza smiled wryly and said, ?I think we?ll have to come up with a better name than a ?dirk saber.??

?Whatever...? Lynx closed the gap between the two and brought her in for a long kiss.

Standing a few feet away from them, Kelli and Jace walked, hand in hand, towards them. Kelli said, ?In a public place, the two kiss like that??

Jace smiled, not saying anything.

Kelli turned to him, jabbed a finger at his chest and said, ?Now don?t you be getting any ideas...?

?Oh, fine.? Jace sighed, rubbing the spot where Kelli had thrust her finger. ?But I?ve got a way to stop them...? Jace said suggestively.

?Oh yeah? How? Arcturus is very much in love with Mazza, and you can tell he is quite comfortable in that spot.?

?Well, for starters, I love you more, and second, well, just watch.? Jace cracked his knuckles, did some arm stretches, and loosened his neck a little, then said, ?Turu! Bets are on!?

?Hot damn!? Arcturus said, breaking off the kiss immediately and headed towards the booth.

Glad y'all liked the trailer! I originally had something else in mind, more like a script of the trailer to help visualize it, but I could hear like a voice in my head when I wrote this out, could picture the scenes being shown on a movie theater screen, so it just made sense. As long as you guys like it, that's all that counts.
