I.E., CA Trip To Where Jabba's Sail Barge Scene Was Filmed March 8-9th With The SDSWS

I'm coming in my Anakin gear.

We will be meeting at the view area in Alpine off of the 8 freeway at 7:15am, if you can't make it there by then. Go on ahead to the Denny's on Imperial Ave. If you don't catch us at Denny's keep going to Imperial Dunes. Turn right off of the freeway (South of the freeway) and turn right again and keep going into the camp area. Those who do not have 4 wheel drive will park their cars in the camp area. We will then load up the vehicles with 4 wheel drive (mine and whoever elses) with supplies and people and ferry you the remaining 1 1/2 miles into the area where the Sail Barge Scene was filmed. Sue's husband, Michael Underwood, will be scouting out areas on Saturday to photograph us Sunday morning in our Jedi Robes/costumes. Early Sunday morning we will go to the area to shoot the photos. These are suggestions of things to bring on this damn fool idealistic crusade:

- Bring lots of water per person

- Bring metal detectors if you have one (The shutters on Jabba's sail barge are not metal, but they have nuts/bolts/screws and other metal pieces that we can detect)

- Bring shovels if you have one (Who knows we may find Jabba's sail barge.. it is still there - in pieces.)

-Tents and other camping gear, coleman stoves, bring warm clothing for night and plenty of layers

- bring snacks and smores to cook over the campfire at night

- We need a fire ring... if anyone has a metal fire ring please post here, we can't have a fire without a fire ring

- We are only 14 miles from Yuma so there is plenty of places to eat there.

 

So am i meeting you all at ultrazone?

Ok as of right now the Ultrazone Idea is canceld do to lack of funs that we have spent preparing for this trip. Also as of right now we are going to San Diego tomarrow night and spending the night at Kavic's house and then geting up to met up with the SD crew and following them out to the desert.

 

ok, so where are we meeting then?

 

What about still meeting at ultrazone?> or is that far from Kavic's house?

 

Ok how many peopel for SD are paning on going to ultrazone on friday. If it a lot then we can still go an mabey my old friends can hook me and IE up for free.

 

5 or so i think. I dont mind going, because i havent been there yet, but if not we need a meeting place, so i can meet up woth you.

 

WOW! That was a BLAST!!! I'll post my pics later tonight. We were successful in making a "Fan Film!" Donny did some cool stunts while dressed in Jason's Stormtrooper armor this afternoon. I took a couple of "dives" down the Dunes while prefoming some lightsaber stunts.

We were also successful in finding actual pieces of the Sarlaac Pit!

It was great meeting some of you I.E. people! Hopefully we can have some more combined events in the future. Thanks for coming out and help making this such a cool event!

Now...back to cleaning all the sand out of my hair.

 

this was "Awesome"!!! Mark up the first appearance of "dark luke?" It was interesting being the person who gets to play five people on screen at the same time, adn gets to play one other charachter as well.... oh, we'll have to make a followup move....tremors IV:the sand slasher!

this movie is corse, its gets in everyone dvd machine and it's sometimes irritating to fall doen a hill several times on your face in trooper armor!

Yeah, this was certainly a great trip.Coming home was an....adventure, but more on that later! It was really cool to finally meet y'all!
