    What another horse game? Yeah, I'm a little obsessed, but better for you with more chances to win colors!!!

    The Triple Crown
    is a series of three horse races run in May and June. The Kentucky Derby is first, the Preakness second, and the Belmont third. The best of the 3 year old Thoroughbreds in the world come to race against each other for the greatest prize in sports (lol).

    How the game is played:

    You will place your bets in here. You pick a Win, Place, Show (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

    Post positions are not drawn until Thursday or Friday, and the best odds will go up at that time as well. You have until the race starts to post your choices here.

    If you get the Winner right you get 24 hrs of colors.

    Or...

    Get the Win, Place, and Show right amassing 96 hrs of VIPship.

    You can then choose to keep the hours saved until the next race and continue to add on to the number of hours you have colors.

    Each race can start over on betting.

    So Inty picks the Winner of the Kentucky Derby. He does not get the Place and Show right. He can have 24 hrs of VIPship or he can choose to save it for the Preakness. If he gets the Preakness winner right he can have 48 hrs of VIPship. If he saves it and gets the Belmont right he can have 72 hrs of VIPship.

    If Inty picks the Win, Place, Show of the Derby he can have 96 hrs of VIPship. He can also choose to save the hours and pick the Preakness as well. If he does this and loses (doesn't pick Win, Place, Show) then he gets no hours of VIPship. If he picks the Win, Place, Show again, he gets 8 days of colors. Or he can choose to gamble and pick the Belmont. If he picks the Belmont Win, Place, Show (I'm taking him to Vegas!) then he gets to have 2 weeks of colors.

    At any point the hours can be used up and restarted. So if he picks all three in the Derby, uses the colors, then picks the winner of the Preakness he gets another 24 hrs of VIPship.

    Sounds more complicated than it is, but we can go over this as much as we need to so you understand when the time comes.

    Here are the horses:

    For us less-informed beings, what exactly does Win, Place, and Show mean?

    The parenthesis (1st, 2nd, 3rd) was supposed to explain that, but I can see how that is still confusing.

    Win = 1st Place
    Place = 2nd Place
    Show = 3rd Place

    [Austin Powers]Oh no, I've gone cross-eyed.[/Austin Powers]

    This is sort of like gambling your colors, correct, horsey? If you win and keep going, you can lose them all if you pick incorrectly for the next race?

    LOL. Who would have thought I'd be looking up stuff about horses? :p

    EDIT: beat me to the explanation

    Yeah, horse racing is all about betting, so there has to be some betting aspect to this. It can also act as a pick a winner and get 24 hrs of colors game for those that don't want the other option. So its got something for everyone.

    I will not settle for 2nd place again. But this seems a bit more demanding than just entering my name several times. :p

    I will put up odds here as soon as the first ones come out and then update every day til the Derby. (Doing the same for the other two races).

    So if you just want to go on Odds, you can just check here the day before and pick that way. My personal pick is because of the sire of the horse (who I got to feed a peppermint!). So people have weird reasons for picking horses.

    I hope it's not too early to post this, since I'll be offline most of the week. I'll run the risk of posting my picks while they still have a lot of time to scratch or narrow the field (isn't the maximum field something like 15 or so horses?).

    Kentucky Derby
    Win: Pyro
    Place: Smooth Air
    Show: Adriano

    One of my cats is named Pyro, so it's Pyro all the way! :p Hopefully the horse is more energetic than my lazy cat, LOL, but I've heard good things about him.

    Hmm, one other question, apologies if this was already covered and I missed. What happens if two or more people guess correctly?

    Actually, I think they've run 21 horse fields before. Usually there is a scratch or two during the week before, but that would be for injury stuff or if they were hoping for different weather. Though with the Derby anything can happen so they usually go for it.

    LI- Multiple winners!

    In 133 Derby races only 46 have been won by the favorite. Last one was 2004 when Smarty Jones won.
