JCC Troubling words (ie: what can't you say?)

In a conversation it my father a few minutes ago, I tried my damnedest to say 'inconsequential' (the context: a discussion about the Dodgers), and couldn't do it. Tried again after the call, just to see if I could muster it, and still failed.

Hmm, I always pronounced it in my head as "singe".

 

I haven't spoken in years, I only use text, which means I never have to worry about pronouncing anything, only spelling.

What? "Simble" is not a word. If you do in fact mean "thimble" then that applies to every single word with the "th-" phoneme.

You know, I'd like to pinpoint this as the exact moment your insanity was revealed. However, I just think that's too prescriptive and in all likelihood, there's a myriad of events. Death by a thousand, barking mad cuts - not one blow.

I hate when people say "renumeration" and not "remuneration."

Also, when people can't say English words probably. It's not Glow-cester, it's "Gloster".

 

I lived in Pakistan for a few years as a child. As such, my v's and w's would get mixed up often. Got it mostly under control now, but every once in a while there's a nuclear wessel moment.

 

I have an unfortunate tendency to say "incest" when I mean "incense." For example, when describing a Greek Orthodox service I had attended, I said, "The priest spread incest everywhere."

 

My j's and g's kinda blow into my cheek. I hate saying George.

A lot of people can. Like Chris Tucker; that dude got a machine gun mouth on him. I can't do that. Do those people do tongue cardio or something, how do they do that?

Other than that, I haven't encountered any particular words I have had difficulty saying. That I can remember, that is. Maybe there are.

 

Hehe, Everton has a similar problem. Slovak words beginning with "tr" are even worse.
