So, no big twist! But plenty of sweet, sweet Hart/Cohle banter. I'm going to miss them.

 

I am glad there is no twist. That would've broken the show. Cannot wait to watch this bad boy on the ol' pvr

 

Also, the finale crashed HBO Go.

Ah, so that was the reason I couldn't get on. Decided to watch Cosmos first then TD. No matter I caught the 11 o'clock encore.

Great stuff, and great show all around. Glad that it didn't go crazy at the end.

Mcconaughey has an easy Emmy coming.

 

Thought the ending was perfect. Didn't expect a happy ending, let alone a hopeful one, and I'm glad to be surprised.

 

the whole swirling vortex into another dimension was kinda weird, but awesome. also why does everyone seem to have a tv with a built-in sideways vcr? where do you even get one of those? anyway, the whole finale was awesome. i would watch another season of these two characters doing anything.

Really glad they didn't try for some stupid twist, though I was definitely surprised by the hopeful ending... which is a different kind of twist I guess in the sense of twisting Rust's outlook around. I didn't have any grand theories or expectations since I think those generally just lead to disappointment and weird expectations.

But yeah, great stuff. Really really surprised Rust didn't die, but obviously happy about it too. I'm already keeping McConaughey's Emmy seat warm

 

The big twist is that James Mason is the bad guy.

Great finale. Really well acted, well played out, and nice tie-in to the title of the series.

Watched the entire season in one sitting on Sunday. This show was like a goddamn bag of Lay's.

 

when they first showed the guy in the last episode with his busted ass companion watching tv in his cluttered silence-of-the-lamby house i thought "oh no, you're blowin' it" but it ultimately ended okay i guess. the interplay between the two detectives was the best part about the show, even though i was kind of getting tired of woody's chaw-mouthed delivery and mcconaughey's mcconaugheying.

i'm pretty excited by what i've heard re the second season, assuming its true. something about the underlying occult nature of the u.s. transportation system?

 

that's what i heard too. intriguing to say the least.

 

Pizzolato mentioned the possibility (said he was reading up on it or something), but I wouldn't say anything's guaranteed except it probably won't be in the Deep South this time.

 

that's good. i like the idea of it moving around the country season by season. maybe there will be a miami vice-like season or something.

 

what if lynch did a season? my goodness

 

HBO has submitted the series to the Emmys' drama categories, and not the miniseries categories everyone expected. That means it will be facing the final season of Breaking Bad.
