Turning Luke to the darkside,,,was it all forced?

Now that we've seen what Palpy went through to manipulate Anakin to the dark side, don't you feel that the way he tried to get Luke came off as rushed? Think of all the work he s[ent twisting Anakins mind, offering a way for him to save his wife from death. What did the Emperor offer Luke? Ummmm nothing! Didn't even throw him a fricken bone! Then when Luke says no to the offer what does Palpy do...throws lightning bolts up his you know what. I mean come on now. Some people say that Palps did what he did only to get Luke before Vader could get him first. To that theory I say BS. If that was he goal then he would never have told Vader who Luke was to him, thus allowing Palpy to hunt Luke down himself and turn him and kill Vader...yadda yadda.

Whatcha all think?

 

Maybe he thought learning that VADER of all people was his dad twisted him plenty as is.

 

Palpatine was sort of tempting Luke with the possible destruction of his friends on Endor. He could put a stop to it if Luke joined him. Luke didn't take the bait.

Remember, by the time "Palpy" was Emperor in the OT, he'd grown fat and lazy and utterly convinced of his near-invincibility. He also believed, thanks to the events in ROTS, that his visions of the future were written in stone. He just KNEW that Luke's defeat of Vader would push him over to the Dark Side the same way it happened for Anakin when he severed Mace Windu's hand. Unfortunatley for him, Luke's refusal was also the kick to the As- that Vader needed to join his son in destroying him. Palpatine figured he'd best cut his losses and get rid of the potentially more powerful Skywalker before that happened and keep his old standby Vader.

 

That's got to be it. When the Emperor saw how powerful Luke was while in a ripsnorting all-out Dark Side fit, he figured the kid was TOO powerful (i.e. more so than him). If somebody's more powerful than you, they COULD conceivably take you down. So rather than risk having Luke kick his pasty white wrinkly behind, Palpatine decided to kill him.

 

But don't you think Palpy was trying too hard too fast? Look at all the crap he did to get Anakin!! I think he would have learned from what he did to get his dad turned, UNLESS, UNLESS Palpy got arrogant and too sure of himself...hmmm?

 

Palpy tries a different method. he takes the piss out of Luke. "The Alliance will die", he sneers, "as will your friends". Luke's friends are his livelihood. Without them, he's got nothing - remembering what he said to Ben in ANH after the destruction of his house. Palpy knows this that Luke will have nothing left for him, only his father, Vader, and that he would cut his losses and turn to the darkside to join his one remaining friend, his father.

Remember, Palpy originally wanted all three. Remember ESB - Vader wanted Luke to join him as did Palpy. Only when the lightsabers were out did Palpy recommend to Luke to kill Vader - kinda opportunistic.

 

Palpy is one slippery sucka.

 

He sure is. He can get in years worth of twisting in just minutes.
