T, that actually did cross my mind. But, I figure as old as Ruby is that she's good at improv. I think her "gay" dig was on purpose to try to get at Dean.

I have decided that Supernatural should stay away from holiday-themed shows. Not only did it tick me off that they mispronounced "Samhain" through the entire Halloween episode, but that "god/demon Samhain" nonsense is such untrue bantha poodoo and is so old hat that I was almost glad they were mispronouncing the word. They could have used another demon name and been totally okay because the rest of the stuff was good, and Sam and Dean maybe seeing that angels aren't terribly fluffy and nice was good, but no. My flinching when Dean says he can't stand witches is one thing (you get used to it after a while, and they did try making a halfhearted distinction in an earlier ep), but the writers really ought to know better about Samhain/Halloween.... I had to go to the next ep to cleanse my palate. And I'm glad, because it was a Ben Edlund ep, and Ben Edlund has never, ever let me down. Except that he doesn't write nearly enough Tick comics anymore. :(

that is something i have always wondered about to. i think i have concluded that it would be easier NOT to tell Dean right away because we know how much he LOVES Ruby...btw i like old ruby better. We are all caught up i think.

I'm up through s4e4 as of last night.

JGoC, I finally got a chance to read the story you wrote. You did a good job! It was certainly interesting to change the point of view for the story.

I fail. I havne't checked out the fic yet. As it is watching the show is taking me away from things I need to be getting done. (I haz no willpower.)

Edit: I had a crossover fic plotbunny in my head, but I think Castiel showing up killed it.

There is always the magical land of AU's.

Thanks :) I wrote it when I was supposed to be doing homework. That seems to be the surest cure to writer's block.

    I remember those days! :)

True, AU might work, but I always used to take great pains to make use my fics fit with established continuity.... Those were the days.

I love trying to be accurate... in the fic I wrote, there's a couple things that I realize I wasn't too picky about, the description of werewolves doesn't really match what SPN uses. It bugs me a little bit. But I'm writing something right now for another fandom and I've got a spread sheet of all the past events the characters have mentioned and I found a website that will let me know what the weather was like in Saint Petersburg during the time the fic takes place. It was hell trying to find good russian translations. I had to do hours and hours of research. I kinda wish my friend who was dating a Russian woman was still with her, as I would have emailed her with a TON of questions.

But then, in that same fandom I am strangely drawn to one idea that is VERY AU. It's weird... I don't know why just one idea makes me want to abandon all that authenticity and canon nazi stuff I'm into. ;)

Just finished s4e7 - the halloween one for that year. I'm right there with you, Q, on the good and the not so good.

So is it me, or are the writers working in more humor than they used to do in earlier seasons? Not just the obvious stuff like the Eye of the Tiger, or the the obviously funny stuff. I mean, there's more of that, but also little things - actor's expressions, little comments or lines, all sorts of stuff has me cracking up. I'm not sure if they did incorporate more humor or if I'm just getting more attached to the characters and show.

LOL, Sarah. You sound like I used to be, tables and research, etc! One Buffy/Hellblazer fic I did even had sources cited at the end. :-B

Oh, nnay, I think that's properly called porn, not fanfic! :p

I thought the subtle humor was picking up in S3. I think it might have to do with the comfort level of the cast and crew, being able to play with that stuff more. Of course, I'll be in a better place to judge if it's just me the second time I watch them. :)

Oh, BTW, ladies, if we can continue to keep spoilers covered, that'd be great, 'cause M's been afraid to come in this thread but I told her we're good about that.

M is going to come join us? *squee* Yes! And yes, of course we should continue to cover spoilers. It's good to make anyone comfortable to come into the thread. Perhaps we should also continue to give indication of what season the spoiler is, so that those in the middle know whether they can view it or not. Now I just need to figure out how to more easily view the highlighted text on my phone - so far the only thing I've figured out is to copy it and then paste into a note.

I wondered if they might be getting more comfortable. Take just for example (since I saw it last night), the Eye of the Tiger video. You can hear someone cracking up in the background. Overall I get the feeling that it might be a fun set.

I'm going to have to order season 5 soon. I have a local friend who has offered to lend it to me, but let's face it - I'm going to want it for myself.

Next... I need to get my sister into it. When I first started getting interested, I asked her if she had seen it. Her reaction was much like my original response: she had tried watching it but couldn't really get into it. We have a lot of similar tastes, so I need to get her to try again. Spread the crack!

    *sniff* i am soo happy!!!

Yeah i read an article that Jensen was dead set on only 5 years of the show...however here we are in yr 6. You need to watch the bloopers they are awesome! I also really think that adding Misha, Castiel..aka smokin' hot angel, has realllly given the show a different dynamic. I laugh so much with Cass...he is awesome. I follow both him and the Tricker on Twitter.

i am REALLLLY glad that you guys are liking the show. It is the only show I have comics, books, tshirts and all of the seasons of. I just bought a few TV guys and i have a mug, and a collectable from the first season that is SUPER cool. Heck I made my own calendars for the office of them. (see below) I have liked shows and been into them, however this show is probably one of my all time favorites. WHICH is funny considering I wouldn't watch it when it first started until Emily was home because i was too scared to watch alone. [face_laugh]

Alison i might can help you with 6, can you watch avi files?

    My calendars at my office..

I believe it was Kripke who was set on five years, and that's why he's not at the helm anymore; he stuck to his guns and left after the five-year plan was done.

M probably won't join us for a little while. She can't watch until after Bean goes to bed, after all, and with Christmas coming I think she's kinda busy. but I told her it was crack, so.... :)

In regards to the anime, I'm told there's no US release planned yet. But the rumor is that the guys are dubbing a couple of episodes in English; possibly to see what interest there is?

So when are we getting some Supernatural actors out to Starfest?? I'm assuming they haven't been there yet. Even though I wasn't watching the show, I'm sure I would remember the commotion from nnay and sarah if they'd been there. Unless it was a year I wasn't there...?

Nice calendars, nnay! Very pretty pictures, and nice layout.

Hm, yes, I can see that M would have to wait till Bean goes to bed before watching the show. Well, it will be good to have her with us when she gets here.

I am sure that we can (and will) get ahold of the anime out here, one way or another. It would be massively cool if the regular actors would dub it into English, though. The main point I am leary of in watching the Japanese is the change in voices.

Bloopers- my friend Melinda mentioned them last night (nnay, she's the one who was giving me side comments on your text last night, and was in complete agreement with you regarding the emotional state of the guys. When I showed her the link you sent me, she also said that Sam spends a lot of time shirtless in season 6.) ... anyway, she mentioned bloopers last night, so I checked out the ones for season 3 this morning. Figured out quickly that I couldn't drink my tea while watching them.

Nnay, yes, I can watch avi files. My friend Melinda has most of season 6 on her tivo I think; she did say she was missing one episode though. I'm also waiting to see whether the season 6 episodes have made it to syndication yet - just a few more days, as they are currently nearing the end of season 5 on TNT.

FYI, here is the info I mentioned a few pages back. Just think how lucky we are that the actors had such good chemistry - it would have apparently been a vastly different show otherwise.

i can almost tell you that with 99.9% that season 6 will not be on TNT...just let me know what you find out.

i am glad you have a Supernatural friend out there ;)

as for starfest, i know KathE has looked into the boys, but they are about 50K each...she and i have talked about inviting Castiel. sooooooo hoping. :) even bobby would ROCK.

OK i will email her and let her know about our growing group. :) we were supposed to have lunch and she had to cancel due to a grandson's school whatever. so yah. OH a good idea would be to get on the Starfest page on Facebook and post something. Okie dokie...maybe we can post hehehe
