janne, I SO know what you mean! its like all year round camping. I got used to it...
language was so hard at the beginning! after the first week I thought I'll never manage. Now its deadlines and non-working software (even those go on strikes, apparently) and crashing computers (twice a day) that drive me nuts.

just hang in there, you can do it! and if not, just come to the uk :p

Is there anything that can't be blamed on the French? Or at least language-wise? Because I didn't know the French mucked up the beautiful English language so much

but I do know that for some weird reason Turkish has a lot of French loan words - as far as I know none of them ever invaded the other. o_O

and nobody ever listened to me when I complained how much French sucks. I wish I had taken Latin in school.

but they did have I think a lot of cultural 'exchange'; isn't the one person that doesn't get what is going on called "the french at the table" in turkish?

trouble is, they had cultural exchange all over the place (the Turkish language is pretty new, after all) and I only recognize the French ones

no idea about Turkish saying. I know almost more French than Turkish ;)

    Not very surprising, Senny. :D
And I think your colour match very good with your icon. I am not a big fan of yellow, but your name looks fine.

And I am not a big language crack, but Latin wasn't that bad.

I did 5 years of French at School and got on fairly well with it. Trying to learn Basic German now and it's a lot harder then French :p
There's so much to remember because words seem to change all the time, and then there's the pronounciation, which for me is near impossible with certain words!!

I also had my days of living as a student, the worse being the first year at Art College in a halls of residence, where we had the smallest oven ever which we had to share with 10 other people. And I don't even want to talk about the shower facilities :p

Anway, the FF-UK:North gang are a great bunch :D And even though I'm a Southerner, I could still understand them despite their Northern accents ;)

accents are what I do suck at - can't tell many of them apart, or name those I know (or assign an accent to a name)

[:D] Poor Lord-Tice. German is really difficult, sometimes even for native speakers. Good luck!

*wrote her examination work about that very subject!*

Not neccessarily! With the right motivation, a good teacher, valuable learning tricks and a keen mind also grown-ups can still learn a new language. It is never too late! There is always ANH!

we just said it's harder as a grown-up, which is true. Not that it's impossible or something like that.

what exact subject did you write about? Language acquisition in general or of certain kinds of people or...?
