I dont know if this has been confirmed anywhere yet, but there was a new Toys commercial for Episode 2 tonight, and they didn't say Count Dooku, but they named Darth Tyrannus, pronounced like Tyrannasaurus Rex (sp?). This of course leaves much room to debate, being it is only a commercial for toys.

    Read the script/book?

Dooku is also called Lord Tyranus - but only at the end, by Darth Sidious.

    Ty-Ran-Us = Toys-R-Us.

It's a subliminal message by Toys R Us to buy Tyranus figures for $29.99!!

A conspiracy has been uncovered... [face_shocked]

Uh, no crap guys. I was talking about the pronunciation. It has been rumored to be pronounced like Tyrant, like TEEranus, and a few others. I am well aware of his Sith name. ;)

I think Yayo is wondering about the pronunciation. I, for one, assumed it was pronounced TEER-RA-NIS (if that makes sense) like tyranny. Not pronouced like Tyrannasaurus.

EDIT: I was beaten to the punch.

I think we're being told about the pronounciation of his name. Interesting nonetheless.

Hmm... I think I need to visit this area more often. I didn't even know he had a Sith name.

That's what happens when you don't have TV I guess.

    UP

Now that everyone's seen the commercial(hopefully). Is this the end all pronunciation for Dooku's alter ego? I still prefer TEE-RA-NUS.

why do u prefer tee-ranus, it makes him sound like a t-shirt or a littler-anus...at least with tie-ranus u get the image of a tyrant or a tyranosaurus rex. Tie-ranus is clearly the better way to say it!

Its a ploy by lucas to get more people interested in dinosaurs. It'll also help get little kids in the movie theaters. The'll hear "Tyrannus", and think wow! a movie about Tyrannosaurus Rex! :p

I like TEER-RA-NIS (like tyranny). It fits with other Darths. I mean if its pronounced like a dinosaur, what's next Darth Raptor!?!

    I prefer TOY-Rannus

But seriously I noticed this too... the pronounciation is like tear-ran-us, like Tyrannusaurus Rex. I'd be happier if it was Tie-rann-is

Christopher Lee pronounced it (as you have heard it in the commercial, I think) as "Tyr-rá-noos," in TF.N's interview with him earlier this month.
