Nobody but specialist stores - Forbidden Planet in particular - seems to get in the Scholastic books, such as BF books. And Refugee has been out for aaaages in bookstores.

    It isn't just you Tod.

If I want to I can get FH2 in London, but that's the only place I've seen it in. My local stores (Essex) equals zip.

The BF books and other Scholastic ones have always been:

    1) Tricky to find

    2) Over-priced at £3.99 per book!

Nor is it just books, both JEDI & REPUBLIC issues have been a week late in getting here too!

I've had to get all the Fett books from Amazon - mostly UK, but #2 was so late on UK I ordered it from Amazon US and paid the extra.

My local Books Etc (Middlesex) has Refugee, but I had already gotten it at Forbidden Planet in London. And Murder One in London can be quite good for sci-fi as well. Don't count it out! They actually had the first Fett book but I had already gotten it online.

I have yet to see 'Tatooine Ghost' in either the Ottakars or Books Etc in town - had to get that at Forbidden Planet also.

However, I did find the 'Infinities:ESB' GN fairly easily at Books Etc. Thought I would have to wait or order it online. And Books Etc seems to be right up to date with the 'Long Time Ago' series.
It seems to be very hit-and-miss.

And I thought my locals were bad! They had TG on time.

Nice to see someone else knows about Murder One, great little place that looks nothing like a SF bookshop, then you go inside and into the basement and bang! Aladdin's Cave...

I live in Northern ireland, and i find it really hard to get Star wars book, but a Forbidden Planet has just opened up and so mesa happy.

P.s, FH2 is an Amercian edition so thats why you wont find it in most bookshops around the UK except for Special stores such as forbdden plant or stores with amercian contacts.

Nope, my FHII is a UK edition, bought on May 1st. You can tell because US books are a shade shorter than UK books (which makes my NJO books uneven, since I have one US one), and of course the price on the back is in £ instead of $.

Well , Waterstones informed me that they could not get hold of a british publisher and that i would have to order it from another major company.

So i am guessing very few Bookstores could find british publishers, so your must have be one of the lucky few.

BF = Boba Fett. We are referring to the (so far 3) books telling Boba's story between AOTC and III. So far there are
'Fight to Survive', 'Crossfire', and 'Maze of Deception'. 'Hunted' is due out around October. Though written for young adults, they are very good, and worth reading.

TOD - check out Murder One as well when you are in London. It is on Charing Cross Road just up from Leicester Square Tube Station as you head toward Oxford Street/Tottenham Court Road. When I do a bookstore run to London I usually go there first and then walk up to Forbidden Planet on New Oxford Street. Also the Books Etc right before the Oxford Street intersection carries 'Insider' magazine if you are interested in that.
(Murder One is a good store - have known about it for awhile. Carries mystery and romance books upstairs and sci-fi downstairs. They get a lot of US imports before they come out in the UK).
