You mean "Et tu, Rieekan?" I appreciate the distress, but not the misspelling. ;) And yeah, him cooperating against Luke is the lowest thing I've ever had him do. It's a good thing Leia's not there.

Yes, poor Lukie. This is a worst-case-almost-scenario.

Yes, I love COs and XOs at HQ... And no, they haven't relieved him of duty, which I'm immensely happy about. ::pats plot on head.::

It's most likely going to be an OC. And yes, it comes down to Mon Mothma, which could be a disadvantage, but there is a good point that she knew GOOD Jedi as well.

TRANSCRIPT OF CONVERSATION BETWEEN LORD DARTH VADER AND SENATOR PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA
    9/28

VADER: It is my wish that you begin training with me.

ORGANA: It is my wish that you get some sense knocked into you, but we can't all be happy, can we?

    V: You have much anger.

O: I hope you don't think that's the good thing I inherited from you.

    V: I wouldn't presume to do so.

O: You presume a lot, Lord Vader.

V: You presume that fighting me defeats my purposes. Did you never consider that your anger is making you more my ally than your abstinence?

O: This isn't anger. This is righteous indignation!

V: However you would like to use it, it is your surrender to the Dark Side that you profess to hate.

    Silence

O: I'm sure you have your spies in the Alliance. What news of Luke?

V: He left you for dead. I thought you didn't care what happened to him.

    O: Perhaps.

    Silence

V: He is as much a prisoner as you are, suspected and surveyed by those who should consider him a friend. Do you think anything but the same awaits you there?

O: Don't bother to convince me that you're doing this for my own good. I'm not as addlebrained as you seem to think.

V: I'm trying to convince no one of my intentions. They are clear enough without having to bandy semantics.

O: Yet you keep dancing around the issue as if I have a choice.

V: You always have a choice, but this is a wiser course of action than letting you rot until you find a way to attempt escape.

    O: Wise.

    Snorts.

O: I thought we agreed I wasn't stupid. What exactly is wise about this?

V: It gives you the skills that you may one day use to kill me.

O: Lord Vader, that's the first tempting thing you've said all day.

Good Leia giving Vader the attidute!
YET, she is just as easily giving into the whole concept because well, he had a master of great manipulation skills.

    great update!
    **congrats on the nomm!**

Ah, if only all fathers and daughters could have such nice talks where they reveal their emotions like Vader and Leia.

But as much as I hate to admit it, I think Vader's right: Leia's anger - *ahem* righteous indignation - is helping him more than her.

DarthMasan--Leia will always be the queen of attitude, but she is seriously misguided in thinking that it's keeping her from being just like Vader. Thanks!

calgary--Attitude? What attitude? ;) Thanks for nice words about the story. And if you want it to win, feel free to vote...

PonyTricks--Yeah, Leia wouldn't quite believe that.

    Golden_Jedi--He really doesn't, does he?

dm1 --Glad you liked those and thanks!

Liesl--LOL, yes, it's quite therapeutic to have this hostility out in the open... And yeah, Leia's mistaken on the whole "righteous indignation shouldn't fool her because it's not fooling him!

AvenKiel--I think you're a little eager and scary. Love ya lots!

Uh-oh. Watch out, Leia. You might end up with some prosthetics to make you *truly* a member of the Skywalker clan.

Hey, Ish, I noticed the Firefly quote in your siggy. Are you a fan?

A trifle eager, perhaps, but scary? No, just interested in seeing Leia kick some butt. Watching her kill Jabba was pretty cool, but I would have liked to see so much more!

SQUISH for Lando!! (squish is a term my friends and I use for extreme affection) I love it! Too bad we didn't get to see Leia go berserk, but this is just as good! More soon please Ishy!

    As do I. :)

Actually...not. They wouldn't go in on a ship's real name, so the name is actually symbolic rather than having Lando along.

Oh, just wait until next post... And Lando ain't there, but he will be later, I believe.

LOL, yes, I'm happy about it, too.

    Yay for Lando!

WASH LIVES is still cracking me up. Well, really any Firefly comment does, but that's inevitable, so, whatever.

Happy to see that Leia's at least in Rebellion hands. Certainly hoping Han's nearby because its a Friday and I require romance. [face_whistling]

Ah, now, see, Ish, that's the thing. You can do angst/sad/depression/suicidal quite well (actually, I can't place suicidal, but I'm sure you'd do it just fine) ... but you also have quite the knack for nice, mushy, happy fics as well.

    So, either way, meh. [face_whistling]

The tremors had nothing to do with cold.

Certainly, Han had the bad habit of keeping any ship he flew at the climate level of Hoth, which was her first indication that this wasn't a complete hallucination. Perhaps it was a symptom of narcotic withdrawal, since alecuse was notorious for not wanting to let go of a host mind.

The tremors might have had something to do with those things, but she also recalled her body's tendency to cope with adrenaline in this exact form. Every shudder seemed to pulse with the intense, unfathomable truth that she was not in Vader's hands any more.

    "Finally awake, are you?"

Her cracked lips stung as they parted in a smile, but she barely noticed. "You came back for me," she rasped.

"I told you we would," Han reminded as he settled on the edge of the bed.

His bed, she realized. Something alarmed must have registered on her face, because he looked rather sheepish at the moment.

"Sorry," Han muttered. "We thought you might need something more comfortable than the usual slab of duracrete that we call a crew bunk."

That meant that he had either stuffed himself into the crew bunk that wouldn't have been comfortable for a Jawa or he'd passed out on the floor. He probably wasn't anywhere near suicidal enough to try sharing the bed.

"How long have I been out?"

"Three days," he supplied. "True to form, you only woke up when all the work's done."

"Only because I'd probably rewire the hyperdrive to the stove and send us all to Nal Hutta by accident," she reminded. "My mind isn't exactly functional."

"But your mouth is going .5 past lightspeed," he teased. "Apparently, you don't need a brain to be a talker."

She was about to fire off a retort, something about him knowing that first-hand, but Luke chose that moment to intervene by appearing in the doorway.

"How many is that you owe us?" he asked with a grin.

"About nine," Leia conceded. "At least I'll be around to make it up to the both of you."

Han's nose wrinkled abruptly. "Agh," he grunted. "If you two are going to get all mushy, I'm going to make some breakfast."

Leia's hand caught his. "I didn't get to say thank you," she said quietly.

His mouth stretched slightly in a smile. "You didn't have to."

His hand disengaged from hers and he was gone in the next moment. Luke remained in the doorway, looking at a loss for words, but did not approach.

"I expected you to be angry," he admitted at last.

"I was," she retorted. "When I was left for dead the second time..."

"I know," he cut her off.

For a long moment, there was only silence, then at last, he moved forward, letting his fingers fit comfortably around hers. The skin was smooth, cool, and she was abruptly reminded of just why they hadn't been able to take her the last time.

"Was it terrible?" she asked quietly.

    "Fighting him?"

    "Yes."

Deprived of the appropriate words, he simply nodded. "You?"

"It was easier, I'd imagine," she snorted. "I just got to argue with him. Nothing life-threatening about that."

His grip tightened slightly. "I don't believe that," he rejoined.

"Nor do I," she conceded, "but it keeps things on a manageable level. Otherwise I'd go insane."

She didn't bother to explain the feeling that she already had.
