    -Nothing wrong with Jar Jar
    -Nothing wrong with the prequel trilogy
    -Luke was a brat
    -The Anakin/Padme romance should never have happend, she was what 13-14 years older than Anakin!
    -Yoda looked good in CGI

    Just 5 years older, actually. Anakin was 9 in Episode I, and Padme was 14.
    Which is frankly silly.

    I don't know what's more silly, the fact that they elected a 14-year-old queen or the fact that they elected a queen.

    It's a holdover from the past. They used to have a normal monarchy, but decided they preferred democracy. I don't remember how peaceful the transition was (too lazy to look it up), but they decided to keep the titles intact. It fit in with their architectural vibe.

    Because it fit with their architectural vibe, and tradition and stuff. Also, it sounds cooler for your protagonist to marry royalty than to marry a president of some backwater world.

    There is historical precedent for elected monarchs. For example, when the first crusade captured Jerusalem and decided to settle down there, the senior nobles elected a king.
