I assume you're referring to the animatic? I'd contend that it's only "awful" because it lacks Liam Neeson's magic touch.

The guy is doing Tak3n for goodness sakes. Surely, he could have fit ROTS into his schedule.

David Lynch is one of my all-time favourite filmmakers, but I'm glad he didn't do ROTJ, it wouldn't have been the right project for him (hence why he turned it down), and he wouldn't have been the right director for the film. He's too much of a genuine auteur to work in service of someone else's vision.
Spielberg, however, would probably have been perfect, it's a real pity the union (guild?) situation prevented it.

There are definite question marks about how he'd have responded to working in a pre-existing franchise, but as one of my all time favourites he'd still have been my first choice purely out of curiosity.

Spielberg was pretty keen on directing it but the union situation was indeed responsible. Would have been arguably the perfect episode for him to direct, too.

It wasn't a scheduling issue, as I understand it. Lucas was testing out how the scene was going to work, but found that it just didn't work so he didn't finish the scene and didn't have Neeson come in yet.

I really hate Chewbacca in the original trilogy. He just feels pointless to me.

I preferred the nuanced way that the Force Unleashed introduced the rebel alliance. It felt natural, unlike rebels, which feels really forced to me.

Yoda wasn't that wise considering he had 900 years experience.

The Ewoks are worse than the Gungans.

    Ok here we go:

    TPM:
    -I like this movie
    -I'm fine with Jar Jar/Gungans
-To me the lightsabers look best in this movie (the blades)
    -I like the CGI
    -Midichlorians=Okay

    ATOC:
    -I like Hayden's Anakin
-I'm okay with Boba being a clone
-I don't see any reason that Dooku (and for that matter, Maul) are the bad guy, except that hes not a Jedi or a member of the republic. It's not like he commits genocide or something.
-The Skywalker/Amidala romance could of been worse.
-Technically speaking, it would probably make more sense IMO that Obi-wan kept his masters saber instead of making an exact replica of the first, and then make a completely different design for his 3rd.

    ROTS:
-My favorite movie in the series
-Grevious fight was dumb and if it wasn't for the TV Show he would be useless as a character.
-I felt bad for Anakin throughout the whole thing.
-The dueling song for Vader vs Kenobi was better than Duel of Fates
-I think its bull that Jackson got a purple saber on request, but the guy who played Cin Drallig couldn't get a yellow one. (Especially with the temple guards in the show)

    ANH:
-While its not saying much, this is my least favorite in the series (But not by much)
-I don't care who shot first. Seriously its a second of a difference.
-I like the reference of Vader as "Darth."
    -I like the CGI Rerelease.
-I don't get all the hype over Boba Fett

    ESB:
    -Only my 2nd favorite
-I liked Lando (honestly Jedi Outcast probably helped me with this one)
-I don't see how two random people who just so happened to blow up the death star somehow became generals with a small amount of experience

    ROTJ:
-This movie didn't do well? Cuz I don't get why
-I think slave leia was a bad idea if only for the fact that she was made into an action figure FOR KIDS like that
    -I like Ewoks
-Vader looks too old for someone whos supposed to be 40

    TFA:
    -I like the Crossguard saber
-The "Ball Droid" seems dumb so far

    Rebels:
-I like the slingshot, and the spinsaber, and the blaster saber.
    -Chopper is better than R2

Let the people hating me commence... NOW

I didnt like Chewy either or R2 when I saw ROTJ as a kid. Being ROTJ was the first Star Wars flick i saw, he just seemed stupid, like Teddy cute stupid. And he made those Walrus,Bear,Lion noises that didnt make any sense to the audience. I didnt actually mind Chewy until I saw him in episode 4

I don't remember if I've stated this before, but I think Duel of Fates is the worst Star Wars duel. I found it non-engaging and empty. At that point in TPM, I couldn't have cared less had the three fighting characters died.

CommanderDrenn, yeah, the music from that scene was probably the one 'exciting' element. It's not my favorite SW soundtrack, but pretty much anything from John Williams is enough to give my brainwaves nice bubble baths[face_cowboy]

Nerdicus has inspired me to do one as well...

    TPM:
Honestly didn't think Jake Lloyd was that bad. I never even thought about it until I saw it talked about in the fandom
This might be my favorite one aesthetically speaking.
I think the Keira Knightly/Natalie Portman connection used in this movie is brilliant.
I liked the look of this puppet.
One of John Williams' best tracks (D of Fates)
    I kinda like Jar Jar

    AOTC:
Least favorite (most people prefer it to TPM)
Count Dooku was wasted in this movie.

    ROTS:
    Opener is rather good
The youngling massacre was unnecessary but also effective

    ANH:
The Jabba scene makes the film dangerously flirt with being bad
Fight scene is actually pretty enjoyable for films from the 70s

    ESB:
    Best story in the saga
    Best performance: Anthony Daniels

    ROTJ:
    Best duel in the saga
    Excellent ending
Victory Celebration is better than Yub Nub

I have to fully agree on that one! The ROTS opening is IMO the best in the saga.

    Unpopular opinions?

That the PT Jedi Council where a bunch of self righteous know-it-alls whose belief that their way is the onyl way led to their downfall.

I agree. I like Phantom Menace all right. It's not a great film, and it's certainly not the best. It's good some major flaws. But it's okay and it's still enjoyable.

And they were also terribly written in the PT films. Yoda doesn't come off as wise. Mace Windu is often unlikable. Those two and the other Council members are more sympathetic and far more interesting in EU stories from the same time period.

Maybe that isn't writing perhaps it is because Yoda is foolish and Mace is cold.

Unpopular opinion: Anakin was not destined to fall to the dark side/born 'evil'. He felt because he succumbed to his personal failings in the Canon timeline, but he could have chosen differently, progressed and still achieved the Prophecy. Yoda & Council weren't right in TPM when they said Anakin was dangerous. His actual fall wasn't meant to validate their stances on him, or validate the 'rightness of the Order's views'.
