Unspoken

I saw your eyes burning bright
I felt your hand on my shoulder
But I did not realise there was so much inside
So much you hid
So much unspoken

I should have seen
I should have felt
But I turned away
Afraid to hear the truth
Afraid to speak the words

Because I had loved and lost
Because I had been where you stood
Because I had felt the pain
And shut it away
Time after time

I should have told you
I should have reached out
But I did not know how far you'd fallen
You locked so much away
It wasn't until the end that I felt your pain

And only now do I see how I failed
And only now I do see how I lost you
Only now can I speak the words in my heart
You were my brother
And I loved you

But it's too late

I see your eyes filled with hate
I feel your rage against my heart
Now I realise there was so much inside
So much I hid
So much unspoken

The hardest thing is to leave you
But she couldn't save you
And neither can I
You won't let us
It's too late

have conflicted Obi-wan of loosing Anakin to the flames of Mustafar...

wonderful poem, Kestrel! Obi-Wan's anguish is deep.

this is where the poem turned for me. This is where Obi-Wan's momentum rises. There is a resigned sadness in the words, as though he has had time to ponder it. It is not the heat of the moment, or even the moment after, but some time. Not too much time, but enough.

The hardest thing is to leave you

It?s too late

Sad, but true.
