Beyond - Legends Unstable Peace(Post NJO fic, S/S + More) WOW I made an Update? 2/9

Well this is my first Star Wars fan fic, well scartch that I had another one but let's not get into that!

It is one year after The Unifying Force. The Yuuzhan Vong have been defeated and peace has returned to the galaxy. Reconstructing continues but rouge elements within the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances threaten the reoccurrence of war. Meanwhile Garm Bell Iblis has been sent with only his flagship Harbringer to eradicate the last strongholds of the Peace Brigade throughout the galaxy.


Chapter 1: Confrontations



The Mon Calamari cruiser Harbringer shot through hyperspace toward the planet Barab 1.

"General, five minutes until reentry."

"Thank you Captain Seara" said General Garm Bel Iblis to the young Barabel captain of the Harbringer.

"Seara, are you looking forward to the coming battle?" asked Garm in a stern voice.

"Oh yes General. As you may know Barbels always look forward to the fight, plus I can finally help in the retaking of my home planet."

"Just as I thought" said Garm. "And keep up that enthusiasm, Barab 1 is supposed to be heavily defended with two Victory Class Star Destroyers."

"And how in the Emperor's black bones did they get Star Destroyers?" growled Seara.

"It seems", said Garm, "that in the early days of the war the Empire sold the Peace Brigade a significant number of them for their efforts. And believe me it sure cost us a lot of credits. A good thing the Senate caught their embezzling early on or we would have been facing two fleets."

"Two fleets? I don't get what you mean..." Seara was cut off as the Harbringer was ripped from hyperspace a good distance from Barab 1.

Garm Bel Iblis pulled himself back to his feet after being thrown to the deck at reentry. "Seara what happened?" shouted Garm, still rubbing the back of his head.

"Interdictor, sir and four Victory Class Star Destroyers inbound."

"Damn, it's a trap but how could they have known about this mission without having someone on the inside?"

"No way to know now" howled Seara.

"I know. Power up the main guns and open fire!"

"Garm they're launching fighters," moaned Seara.

"We may not be in trouble yet what type are they," asked Garm sternly.

"Uglies sir, and it doesn't look good! They've already launched six squadrons!"

"Release our fighters then Seara and concentrate all fire on that Interdictor!"

"As you say sir, I just hope this works."

* * * *

Jaina Solo ran flat out into the docking bay with her squad mates close behind. She quickly ascended the ramp of her X-Wing and jammed her flight helmet onto her head mashing her already matted brown hair. As the cockpit closed tightly shut, Jaina flipped on her comlink and listened as all the members of Twin Suns called in.

"All right Twin Suns, we're going in hard and fast with Rogue Squadron. We're to keep the Uglies off of the Harbringer at all costs."

"We've got it, Jaina," commed Rogue Two.

"Good," said Jaina.

As the ships shot out of the launching bays of the Harbringer, the Uglies were already bombarding the ship with laser fire and proton torpedoes.

"Twin Suns form up with your wing mates, Jag and Kyp come with me," shouted Jaina.
* * * *

"General, the Interdictor is down!" yipped Seara in delight.

"Good job Seara now prepare to jump to hyperspace."

"That's not possible the Interdictor is down and plummeting toward the nearest of Barab 1's moons, but the interdiction field is still up!"

"Blast," yelled Garm as he slammed his fist down on a table.

"Seara, I know you may think I've gone insane, but speed up and ram the nearest Star Destroyer!"

"Sir are you really sure that is the best option at this time?"

"Just do it Seara and we may live through this fight!"

"Yes sir, General. I do hope you know what you're doing."

The ships engines flared as it started its acceleration for the run on the Star Destroyer.

Well I can tell you I'm working on the next chapter now and if I have enough time I'll have it up by Friday or this weekend!

 

Well since no one else has posted yet and since this story's on the second page I guess I'll BUMP myself up.

 

Nice. That was better than I expected. Good thing you PM'd me otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it.

Two gripes though, which are relatively minor.

1) The names of ships should always be in italics.

2) I don't think Seara would call Bel Iblis by his first name. As a lower-ranking military officer she would address him as General, as per military etiquette. Familiarity in the military, as Dark Tide: Onslaught tells us, flows downhill.

Other than that...hurry up with the update. I want to see what the Peace Brigade do with those 4 Victory-class Star Destroyers.

 

Good start. But why is Jag there? I thought he went back to Csilla? So, this is an AU?

 

Thanks for the review Spike2002! I took your advice on ittalicising the ships names.

Another thanks to puppyglo for the review! Jag did go back to Csilla but this fic is 1 year after TUF so he came back. And no this isn't AU it continues with all the continuety of the Star Wars timeline.

Chapter 2: The Will of the Force


"Jaina, Kyp what is Garm doing?"

"I don't know, Jag let me com him", sighed Jaina.

"We'll keep the Uglies off your back oh glorious leader", Kyp commed.

"Stop fooling around Kyp this is serious!"

"Got it oh glorious leader", Kyp replied.

Jaina left Jag and Kyp to skim just over the Harbringer's hull to provide her with the best cover possible.
"Harbringer this is Colonel Jaina Solo. What are you doing, repeat what are you doing?"

"Jaina this is Garm, we're going to be ramming the nearest Star Destroyer."

"Garm, are you insane!?! You're risking the entire Harbringer!"

"You're still young Jaina. You're going to have to trust me".

"I can't just go along with you Garm! If this fails thousands of men and women will die."

"You can't stop the ship now", said Garm. "Either way the damage is done, we either keep with it with all out hope and power or we watch it fail."

"Jaina this is Captain Seara, you're going to have to trust Garm on this, now we have a mission for you."

"Send it to the squadron's astromech droids and we'll do our best."

"Good luck Colonel", Seara screeched into the com.

* * * *

"Status Seara?"

"All's going well Garm. We should be able to ram the stem that connects the Command Center to the rest of the Star Destroyer right off!"

"How long 'till impact?"

"Six minutes Garm, don't you think it's time to send the message to the rest of the crew?"

"I guess it is Captain Seara. Attention all crew, attention all crew, we're about to be ramming a Victory Class Star Destroyer in about five and a half minutes, prepare for impact."

"Now that that's done how's the Star Destroyer reacting Seara?"

"There forward shields are down and ours are at forty percent and holding."

"Good, increase speed to full throttle and keep up those laser batteries gunners", Garm bellowed.

"Sir", Seara screeched. "They're pulling up and exposing their belly to us!"

"Damn, I guess we're going to be going through the whole Star Destroyer."

"One minute Garm. I guess this is it."

"I guess it is Captain Seara."

"Six seconds sir, five, four, three, two, one..."

* * * *

Jaina Solo shot from the hull of the Harbringer and rejoined Jag and Kyp. "What did he say Jaina?" Kyp asked.

"They have a mission for us and I mean the whole squadron."

"What is it? It sounds important", asked Jag.

"We're going to be flying into the far Star Destroyer's hanger bay and do as much damage as we can!"

"Interesting plan, Jaina. Better send it out to the squadron" said Kyp eagerly.

"Twin Suns this is Colonel Solo. We have a new mission from the Harbringer. We're going to be flying directly into the farthest Star Destroyer's hanger bay and doing as much damage with out proton torpedoes as we can."

"Got it Jaina, is there anything else we need to know?" commed Twin two.

"Well, other than that the Harbringer might not be left when we come out from out mission, no nothing new."

Jaina led the entirety of Twin Suns squadron into what might be their last mission with Kyp and Jag taking rear guard as she took one last look at the Harbringer.

* * * *

The Harbringer rammed the underside of the Star Destroyer and punched through it like a pencil through netting. Pieces of the Star Destroyer flew off in every direction lowering the shields of any nearby ships and even destroying some Uglies.

"Status report Captain Seara?"

'Thirty breaches Garm, most are major!"

"Close off the sections, we may be still be able to get out of here."

"We have some good news Garm, Rouge Squadron has destroyed the interdiction field generator but we're boxed in by two of the Star Destroyers."

"Where are they Seara? I need to know to give proper orders."

"Well, you can see the one in front of you, Garm, but the other one is directly behind us."

"What are your orders Garm? Our shields are gone and we

You killed Jaggie?! Jaggie can't die! *sniffle sniffle* Does he survive? I mean afterall this is Star Wars, where everyone always survives suicidal things. Jag?

Thanks for the replies JAGSGURL15 and puppyglo! You'll have to wait for the next chapter to be sure but I will say there will be another surprise in it!

 

One of the worst plot devices in fan fiction is bringing back characters from the dead when they so obviously died.

So let Jag stay dead!!!

BTW, pretty good, but you forgot the italics still

 

Oops, I guess I forgot about that Spike2002 but it's all fixed now!

And a hint for the next chapter, there's going to be another big surprise in the next chapter!

Yep another surprise, if I can even get around to writing it with Darth Real Life attacking me from all angles lately!

Chapter 3: Jags Final Endearment


Luke Skywalker addressed most of the Jedi Order minus Jaina Solo on the newly built Super Star Destroyer Jedi Resurgence in the orbit of Mon Calamari.

"As you all may know the Jedi Order has been drastically reduced during the war", Luke said pausing for a moment. "So I have a far-reaching mission for the entire order. I need you to go countless worlds throughout the galaxy and find persons who are sensitive in the force." Luke said as he paused again.

Luke waited until the mummers fell into silence before he continued. "I had this Star Destroyer built for this exact purpose. I will be going to Dathomir, the Imperial Remnant, Csilla, Tatooine, Endor, Hutt Space, the Ssi Ruuk, and throughout the Unknown Regions I don't exactly have any specific systems marked for you to visit except for you, Jacen; I want you to find the Fallanassi. Besides that I would advise you to first visit your homeworld."

"Luke", Mara spoke up. "I still don't see why you've had this Star Destroyer built?"

"This is where we're going to have the new Jedi students sent until the Yavin temples are rebuilt and to provide my group with protection in the unknown regions", Luke replied with an air of mysticism. "Streen and Kam have found Ossus to be less than they expected so we will be rebuilding the Jedi Academy at Yavin."

"Now I will be choosing my team", Luke said with amusement as he watched some of the younger students eager faces. "Well of course I will be taking Streen and Kam to keep on teaching the younger students so they don't fall behind in their training. Mara of course will accompany me because she's my wife. Han and Leia, and Saba will top off my team."

Luke was about to continue when Leia burst into the room out of breath.

"Leia what is it?" Luke asked with an apparent touch of worry in his voice.

"Cal Omas is dead; a team of Bothans killed him about fifteen minutes ago and are escaping in a Corvette Analog!"

Luke jogged over to his gunners as the Corvette Analog shot past the Jedi Resurgence. "Hurry, shoot to disable, drain all power from the shields and shunt it to the turbolasers!" Luke shouted with urgency in his voice.

Turbolaser blasts shot from the hull of the Super Star Destroyer and began to drain the enemy ships shields of power.

"Their shields are almost down sir", one of the gunners shouted up to Luke.

"Aim for the stabilizers when the shields are completely down so we can stop them in their tracks."

Luke looked out into space as the battle was quickly coming to the end when several figures appeared into the maelstrom of turbolaser fire.

"What are those things?" Luke asked Leia as she came up to view the battle.

"They look like escape pods, Luke but what are they doing here?"

"Maybe they came from the Bothan ship?"

"I don't think so, Luke. They're escorted by two squadrons."

"Hold on a second, Leia. I know those squadrons. They're Rogue and Twin Suns!"

"Luke I haven't heard that anything's gone wrong in the Barab system."

"It still could have happened, Leia. There's always a possibility that something could go wrong."

"Well let's find out by ourselves, they're opening a comm channel."

"Attention Super Star Destroyer this is Gavin Darklighter of Rogue Squadron, we're inbound from Barab 1. The Peace Brigade had more ships them we expected and we lost the Harbringer along with a couple of squad mates and Jag Fel."

"Gavin, this is Leia. Is Jaina okay?"

"Leia? You're the Captain of this Star Destroyer?"

"No, this is the Captain, Gavin, so is Jaina okay?"

"Luke it's you! Yes Jaina is okay and she's opening a comm channel."

"Jaina are you okay? What's happened?"

"Mom? What are you doing here?"

"Luke's just giving all the Jedi a briefing."

"Jag's dead, Mom."

"Gavin, Jaina, everything that's happened doesn't matter right now, Cal Omas is dead. The Bothans in that Corvette An
