Sure star wars had its big name heros, Luke, han, Chewie, etc. But what about the people who were out there doing there jobs, whether they related to the rebels or empire, with no big pay offs except the satisfction of a job well done. So i would just like to find out who people thought were some of the unsung hereos of the original trilogy and were taken for granit.

    in my opinion:
The Empire: the foot soldiers of the empire storm troopers, nameless, faceless, loyale to the emporer. Whether they were getting rocks thrown at them by ewoks, shot up by rebel scum or sliced by lightsabesr. They always seemed to do there duty with no real complaints

Rebels: The basic fighter pilot. Not all of them were Luke Skywalkers or Biggs Darklighters, but they did there duty to the rebel cause willing. Usually facing over whelming numbers of tie fighters, they continuely risked their lives time and time again.

p.s. sorry if this was posted before im new to the boards and this is the first time i posted any new threads on the forums

Biggest Unsung Hero in the Saga: The guy that didn't shoot down the Escape Pod with the droids. He saved the galaxy from the Empire from doing that, even if it did cost him his life later on.

The undoubted unsung hero of the OT (and probibly the whole saga) is R2-D2. He bails the rebels out so much **** in the films, that without him the Empire would most certainly have won and Luke would be in the hands of the Emporer (IMO at the end of ESB when he fixed the Hyperdrive on the Millenium Falcon).

May the Force always be with R2-D2 :D

Yeah, Artoo really saves the whole gang's arses way too many times. :)

I would also add General Carlist Riekkan, commander of Hoth Base, to the list. If it wasn't for him and his coordinating of the battle, the Rebels wouldn't have gotten off Hoth as easily as they had. He was responsible for saving all of the Rebels' weapons, computers, etc.

Jan Dodonna, the bearded tactical genius behind the attack on the first Death Star.

Bothans, who we never even see.

Red Leader. Did much to instill Luke with the confidence to take on the Death Star with his inspirational 'You'll do alright.'

    Lobot.

Takeel a.k.a. Snaggletooth. When the Storm Troopers go to investigate Obi-Wan's handiwork, Takeel just sits there, staring at the Storm Troopers with a most peculier look on his face. He didn't provide any info. No. He just sat there. Very brave. Very heroic. And so Obi-Wan and Luke were able to evade detection.

That dead Taun Taun kept Luke from freezing to death on Hoth. I think it also deserves some credit.

The very first rebel with a line -- the one Vader kills right at the outset: "We intercepted no transmissions..." Sure, he was lying through his teeth, but he died nobly.

The R5 that blew a motivater led to R2D2 being able to get to Luke.

    Yeah, R5.

You blow a motivator, and the Empire falls.

    ATTA BABY!

This kid's destined to make an appearance in Episode III, we can see he and R2 exchange some money or something, or some scene where R2 saves his neck, and R5 is like "I owe YOU one" and then later, to keep from breaking up the dynamic duo of 3PO and R2, he poops out of his head and SAVES MILLIONS.

I second Wedge Antilles as an unsung hero:

Survivor: Battle of Yavin, shot up by Vader
    Participant: Battle of Hoth
Major combatant: Battle of Endor - helped Lando destroy 2nd DS

    Medals: Nil / diddly-squat / zilch

So why did Han get a medal for Yavin and not Wedge (and Farlander)?

Well no one has mentioned the slaughtered Jawas that sold the droids to Owen Lars.
The Stormtrooper that ordered the blast doors be closed, which allowed Han and Chewie to evade capture.
The Wampa(whom I call lefty)that was going to eat Luke, if not for that Luke would never have escaped and nearly frozen to death, which in turn allowed ObiWan to appear to him with the Yoda message.
The Ugnaughts that played Wookie in the middle with 3PO, they could have just tossed his parts in the incinerator.
Bespin Guards that captured the Stromtroopers escorting Leia, Chewie, 3PO to Vader's ship.
The Cloud City operator that turned on the vacuum pump on duct#1138 that sucked Luke in and deposited him over the hatch that led to the weather vane.
And of course the ATST driver that opened the hatch to shoo away the ewoks only to be hauled out of there by Chewie.

I hardly think the Bothans deserve that much positive recognition--they did lead the rebels into a trap on Endor. Not to mention they were practically given that information.

The guy who designed tow cables on the Rebel snowships. Pretty random idea, but it worked well against the AT-ATs.

Beru. She wanted a translater who spoke Bocce, in turn leading Owen to buy 3PO, who suggested they get R2, who saved the day several times.

Beru's parents, who gave birth to Beru, who wanted a translator that spoke Boche, which caused Owen to buy C3PO...Come to think of it, Beru's GRANDPARENTS!

Lt. Page of Katarn's Commandos. He was one of the Rebel soldiers who landed on Endor to take out the shield generator.

The Tuskens, for drawing Obi-Wan to Luke, and then keeping them together long enough for Obi to tell Luke his past, or some of it.

The one non-Leia female we see in the Rebellion before ROTJ: the ion cannon controller on Hoth. Nice shooting.

I can't belive no one has said Ackbar yet, he held the rebel force together at Endor, despite wanting to leave.

Bossk, IG88, etc. They get zero credit, where Fett is like a god.
