As many may or may not know by now, I took some damage while at the meet n greet at SWN. I'm chuckling over the various accounts and levels of damage that took place, so I am taking time to give everyone an update.

About 15 minutes into the meet n greet, I heard a loud pop in my helmet. I wasn't sure what it was and thought it was my microphone hitting my fan or armor snapping as it often does. Within a few minutes, I felt some heat on my head. The battery pack was still in place so I was a little concerned. The heat grew and I grabbed my trusty intern to escort me back to the dressing room.

Upon arrival, I looked in the mirror to see a wound a little larger than a quarter on the top of my head. Nick, the intern ran to get an EMT who told me to flush it good with water. Mary instructed me to numb it quickly with ice. My balaclava needed a hood rinse and will now be retired. I felt better do I returned to duty and finished the event with no pain.

Later in the evening, I posted a picture of the sound on Facebook, more so to be proud of a battle wound. Many people including a nurse in a local burn unit told me to get it checked out. Sunday morning we woke and stopped in to check it out. Many doctors and staff got a chuckle after telling them they are treating a burn on Vader.

I need to go back for a follow up on Wednesday. The diagnosis is a 2nd degree burn. I'm fortunate that I stopped when I did and that I was wearing my balaclava. Had I not been wearing it, there is potential for the acid to drop into my eyes. There is no pain, but rather a stiffness as it starts to scab up. I'm not sure, but this may leave a scar. Good thing I'm tall and few people will see it.

Thank you to everyone who have checked in on me in one way or another.

Glad to hear that you're on the mend! And, glad this can now just be a "funny" story from the event.

Glad to hear that it's not as bad as it could have been. When you go all out for Vader, you were not joking.

Indeed, Chris. The damage could have been much worse, however we're happy that you are OK.

I'm just happy that you will be okay and that your injury is a lot better than described to most of us.

Keep the cream on it and hopefully it will cut down on the scars

Chris, now with authentic battle damage!

Like everyone else I am glad you are OK!

When you get to fixing the inner workings let me know. I can help you make a sturdy battery cover/case/thing. Let's keep you safe!

Thanks everyone. I'm seriously considering relocating my battery supply as well as cutting down on the number of batteries I use.

A representative from the battery vendor reached out to me on Facebook after I posted a picture and description of what happened on their company page. I'm told I will be receiving a phone call shortly to "discuss the situation".

If my knee and ankle act up, I might just consider bionic legs next!

So, is that what happens when you wear the Vader costume? Eventually, you end being Vader both inside the costume and out? LOL

Did the battery at least yell out "You were the chosen one!" before giving up?

Saw the pic on FB. Glad you're okay, man.

I have to follow up again in a month. Treatment stays the same: keep it moisturized with Silvadine, stay out of the sun or wear a hat, be careful shaving, only use Dial soap on my scalp, and avoid stupid people.

It should take a month to heal. No infection, but I'll have a nice scar and story to share around the campfire.

I'm glad I'm surrounded by so many people who care. I am one to shrug things off and would have probably be writing about an infection and other serious needs had I of not listened and got it checked out. Hugs!!!

It's undetermined if Chris' value has gone down since he is no longer "mint" or if it's gone up due to a unique one of a kind blemish.:p
