    Those listed previously were just ones that I picked out of peoples posts, nothing is set yet. Feel free to keep adding ideas. It would be good though if we could wittle it down to 4 or 5 by next week then do some voting.

    If you need to whittle, SWNZ, my only serious suggestion was refined to;

    Guardians of the Triple Star

    I don't think we need several almost-identical variations of it as options

    I only added "city" to the "land of the long white cloud" suggestion for added SW relevance.

    You can withdraw my Tem Morrison @ New World one too, it was meant as a joke.

    Sounds like the byline for a particularly nasty medium white wine advertisement...

    Given that we have one main option for a name so far, are there:

    A) Any objections to using it?

    B) Any further names for consideration?

    C) Any ideas on who's going to win the cricket?

    a) I'm happy with Guardians of the Triple Star, but that's not surprising as it was my main contribution.

    b) not from me.

    c) if they recall JEFF WILSON to the black caps, we might.

    I'm suprised Brad Thorn wasn't selected for the Black Caps either [face_devil]

    Jeff wilsons not good enough for our top class cricket team - i mean - look, he just got dropped from the all blacks!

    hahahaha

    //feels sorry for Christian - damn injury//

    SFL. The all blacks are not a cricket team, so being dropped from the AB's has no bearing on Jeff Wilson's cricket ability. You may not remember, but Wilson has played cricket for NZ before in our one-day team, and saved the game on several occasions.

    lol

    in both codes there are better players than jeff.

    i worry more about christian than jeff for the rugby (and tane).

    and cricket ... well - the entire team sucks lol

    i mean how shameful is it to have a "challenging game" against the queensland (i think) team - when its our international team - we should have wasted them quite comfortably if we were any good.

    <sigh>

    ;) :p

    Chris Cairns on Jeff Wilson, July 2001;

    http://www.cricket.org/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2001/JUL/157763_CAIRNSPC_03JUL2001.html

    Now amongst the cricketing fraternity out there the name Jeff Wilson will be one you may remember from the summer of 1993 when he played for the Black Caps against the Aussies and is the last of the unique cricket and rugby double internationals.

    On Saturday, the performance Jeff put in reminded of the phrase, 'form is temporary, class is permanent.'

    'Goldie' (his nickname) had been touted as not being anywhere near his best form during the Super 12. After a self-imposed rest from the game of rugby last year, he did seem to be a little at sea for the Highlanders early in the season.

    He was only finding his way back into the game and people were quick to jump on the bandwagon saying he was past it.

    On Saturday he showed just what class is. He was everywhere and his reading of the game was beautiful.

    Goldie is a bloke I know the CLEAR Black Caps would love to have in our side. His belief, his skill and his enthusiasm make him one of New Zealand's great sportsmen and I know he has a few years left in him yet.

    SFL, NZ drew the test with Queensland. So what? They don't risk injury in those games, so don't do as many risky things, and often field a lot of the reserves. Vettori's on the mend, which is a good thing too.

    People who bag our sports teams and individual players (especially at the start of the season, before an international match has even been played) really annoy me.

    Can you recall ever seeing Wilson play cricket?

    I can, and he was spectacular...

    Name sounds good SWNZ

    As for the cricket finally getting close to a full strength team
    if they all fire we have a chance
    think it will be a good series hoping a few close matches
    waiting for the one day games think we will perform well there

    as for the rugby picked on form
    think randell was unlucky but he should concentrate on the blindside
    based on that maybe a toss up between him and collins maybe youth won
    team is very youth
    good team with an eye on the next world cup
    think it was best to leave cullen at home to recover
    i think we try and rush players back to quickly rather than let them get game time back before throwing them into the big games

    Actually I was thinking that since many overseas people see New Zealand as the land of sheep, we could "borrow" the idea from the Episode II parody poster and have images of the Star Wars characters with sheep heads. :D

    I haven't had time to get back to the banner yet. Try and do some more this week.

    Any further comments about our name?
